CL-S 6 Speed ran 12.7 @ Capitol Raceway on Nitrous

So who was it? I had a friend call me and say it ws at Capitol Raceway in Maryland this Sunday and saw a Red CL-S with a carbon fiber hood run 12.7.

I have an idea of who it is and he is a member here but rarely posts. I can't remember his name. Hoping he'll see this post.

Was he the one that had a CF trunk?

I remember you posted a red CL with a CF trunk running at capitol awhile ago.

His name is Mitch. I think he only ran a 13.5. I don't believe he broke 12s if you are referring to the one with the CF trunk. I was there. I saw the 13.5 or so, but not any times in the 12s for him.

He's the only person I know local with a cf hood and trunk on a red cl

I know I said only, but I forgot to mention even the 13.5 is a wonderful time!

Yeah that would be tight to see a CL-S run it 12 flat...

ThinJim stands a chance with 10 PSI, but unless hes on slicks, hes going to have a hell of a time getting any sort of decent times.

Wow! That's a new benchmark to try to beat. Has anyone confirmed that time yet? One of these days I'm going to run mine down the track, it's just so far up there.

Not to hate, but a CL-S 6-speed on nitrous (stock motor) is not going to run 12's. I think an NA CL-S can hit 12's more consistently than a high-powered one. At 400+whp, one can hit 118-122mph traps, but getting that ET down is tough on this car unless you have prep'd with slicks and some sort of launch suspension.

I ran 12.9 @ 111 on my old turbo kit - the new one would have gotten a much higher mph (118+), but I never ran it at the track. Since its in ThinJim's car now and he's boosting more, I'd expect him to run 12.6 @ 120mph.

To be honest, I'd expect 12.3's. The 6 spd is tricky out of the hole, but the boost controller has really helped tone down the 1st /2nd gear problem you and I had when using the 6.5 psi spring. I now use the 4.6 psi spring and with the controller, only see 2-2.5 roughly psi of boost in 1st and 2nd, and instead of all the boost showing up at 3000 rpm as before, it's more gradual with full boost at 4000 now.

Have you guys seen this company. Nice products. http://www.nitrodriveline.com/

it was me at the track but.....

Yea that was me at the track but hahah it deffinetly was not me running 12.7's. I only ran a 13.5 @106mph and yea steve its me mitch. I just have one question what is the best 60 ft times anyone on here has ran with there cl and also has anyone ever ran there car with slicks or drag radials? Oh and also yea I will not quit until I run in the 12's I dont car if it is 12.9 but I will run it real soon hopefully with nitrous, all I have to do is figure out a couple more mods to do to the car I need to figure how to get off the line better. I just ordered today unorthodox racing crank pully anyone know if I can gain mabey a tenth from that? Anyones advice on what mods I can add will work. Can our heads be ported and polished? Do they make a bigger throttle body? Will a v-tec controller help out at all? How about cam gears anyone make any? DAMN I WANT TO RUN 12'S!!! Any advice is greatly appreciated

They can be ported and polished. You won't gain much from that I've heard. I think a bigger throttle body can be found somewhere if you look hard enough. Vtec controller I think would only hurt your times. I've heard Vtec engages at the correct point with the normal ecu and raises and lowering it would only hurt your power. You could check into custom built cams or pistons. do a 3.5 conversion. This should increase your low end power.

I hope it happens, but you will be surprised at what it takes to run mid/low 12's especially in a 3500lb car! I have raced NA cars, turbo cars, NOS cars from 14s E.T's to the mid 10's and after you break into the 12's its very difficult!!

That is what I have heard that these cars are almost impossible to get into the 12's, oh well but hey I appreciate all you guys help. Type R my mods are aem cai, comptech headers, gutted cat, greddy evo2 exhaust, nitrous express 75 hp shot, I am getting in the mail tomorrow unorthodox racing pully, lowered the car with eibach pro kit 2" inthe front and 1.7" in the rear, i got cheap shocks they are tokicko (or however you spell it)blues, my tires are g-force kdw the new ones out, and thats it.... thermoblock spacer I might order.

I would have thought you'd run faster than 13.5 with those mods... especially with the juice. Mattg ran 13.2 in his automatic with similar mods.

Been around that block too..and still have my 1967 Camaro that I've had since 1980. Still runs consistant 10.9s. I like it being at the slow end of the fast class, Super Pro. Haven't raced it in a while, but one day once this garage is finished, back to it.

I can tell this thing pulls like a mid 12 car, it's just coming out of the hole that will determine that.

I have to think that a .5 quicker time is more than possible given the difference in the power between your first kit and this kit.

On a side note and sorry for the brief hi-jack of this thread,

I put on the GReddy turbo sensor today for another tune this friday with someone more knowledgeable in emanage. When that's done, and if the motor is still in one piece, I will make a concerted effort to to to Moroso next week to find out what it will do with stock tires and 25000 miles on them. ouch!

Stock tires? Why waste your time? You've spent how much on the turbo setup? Spend $500 more on some sticky rubber.
