Hey ya'll... I have a set of Apex'i stainless steal mufflers.

Was just polishing 'em down today and came across these weird white spots that were on the inside of my left muffler tip (well, one spot).

In any case, I used eagle one chrome polish and even tried to scratch it off with my nails... but to no avail...

Question... is there some sort of clear coat on these stainless steel exhausts?

And just any suggestions... becuase the white spot is on like, the inside top of the muffler tip. I have no idea how a scratch or mark could have gotten on 'em.

It sounds like acidic condesation has compromised the chrome producing a 'spot. (I assume it is chrome on the inside and not alum or HT paint.

If my assumption is correct your surface chrome/ss/HT paint will need to be replaced

Without a better description of the material involved and a photo of the promblem this is as close as I can get

I'll get on taking the pictures after this weekend... ((out of town))

But how much woudl it cost to resurface or rechrome the exhaust? and coudl they possibly do it without taking the canisters off? Thx for the help...

I'm only worried about the big white spot. Everything else is just dust that gets picked up real well by the cameras...
