My OBP RL

I can't comment on a TL-S but I recently picked up a 6spd TL as a beater so I can get some work done on the RL.
It's only been a few months but IMO, the TL is a downgrade compared to the RL in every aspect, except for the 6MT. Sure it's sportier but it's the little things that the RL has/does that make it such a great car. You really don't notice it till you don't have it anymore.
My appreciation for the RL has grown greatly in the last few months, gonna be a great year

Meanwhile Lexus been dominate the market you can use motor from difference line up with different drive train to choose from and this is not the case for 2nd gen RL. like I said, I will be doing a review compare direct between Base TL vs TL-S vs RL in the near future in all aspect.
meanwhile I learn how Project can keep them low miles RL lol

I taught you well, now just watch out when you're driving the other cars
While we're still going back on forth with the insurance on the value of the other car, I kinda did I thing and bought something for the RL. Sorry Heavy, timing didn't work out with your, but I got ahold of some aspec springs. Install date TBD

I bought lower control arms too, and I decided I'll replace it all in one swoop. My uppers are fairly new. I figured I want to do it in one shot and get an alignment once!

I notice a difference, but our roads are pretty bad here. I can imagine in a southern road where potholes aren't a problem, these would last longer....

What brand LCA you went with? OEM is pricey but I get used to it since my old Lexus cost more. You said southern road are better? clearly you never drive in Houston lol.

I'm actually still car shopping! I believe I've finalized my next vehicle choice!! We shuffled some of our fleet at home so that I'm not driving the RL as much again
Interestingly enough, I invoked the appraisal clause in the Camry case, and it's STILL an active case with insurance lol I'm honestly hoping we're able to settle things within the next two weeks.

I agree on the interior, but the power is a huge upgrade. I thought about the GS-F but if I’m paying that much money, I’d rather ride it out with his car until the AWD M5 drops to that price

Especially when this happens to the SAV market...2013 X5M 65k miles for $35k, $100k gone in 5 years.

I know the power is huge upgrade but how often you fully use all of that power for a DD? weekend car sure it sound great. IMO I would like a car that comfortable to drive as DD but the M5 is good in term of power and handling along with the luxury interior tho

I'm on the fence about putting the springs on to be honest.
#229
Unfortunately I haven't gotten to it yet... I literally ordered these days before I totaled my Camry. It's kind of funny how things stacked up time wise: by the time I got the check for the Camry, and had enough time to install these, I had already seen the IS-F.

If anyone asks me for advice on lowering, I'd say coilovers with adjustable dampening is the way to go

Im surprised that a fellow D2 coilover owner would recommend coilovers over oem lowering springs!
I understand that you can go way lower on coilovers but I dont think the compromise in ride comfort is worth it (especially if you daily the car for long commutes)

I've honestly been in cars with very good ride quality on coilovers. The problem with lowering springs is more often than not, if you don't mate them with properly valved struts, ride quality will drop.

If you ever wanted to give D2 coilovers a try, we could probably work out a good deal!

Bump for a long overdue update. Not much has happened to this car, it's been good to me since my last update! Mostly just oil changes and the regular driving. It's a nice transition to go to this smooth car compared to the IS-F which can be jarring at times lol. I did have to do the upper control arms recently and decided to go with Beck Arnley on the recommendation of many members here. Also did a ceramic coating maintenance detail just to make things extra shinny again
