New Wheels... Who Dis?
Passing 130k this week on my TL. Within a week of buying my TL at 70k, the trans blew up and after some good advice from this site, I went with the 06 Accord trans. Thanks people! ... Next up, I ended up purchasing some Kumho tires. After 3 years and about 30k later, the tires are worn to the threads. This brings me to 2 weeks ago when I decided to invest in some BFGoodrich G Force Comp 2. My friend at Costco told me they couldn't put 1 tire on because of the welds that were on one of the rims. After arguing with the wife about dumping a grand into a car worth a little over twice that, I settled on the Motegi MR118. I could of bought the stock OEM rims and saved a little money but I felt I needed to look a little different then all the other TLs I see on the road and with new rims, I imagine the tires will last even longer. Ill post some pics after I get the rims installed. Has anyone else had opinions on the stock rims and how they have held up for almost 15 years.

I painted my stockers a couple years ago. Gunmetal and silver. They have taken quite a beating here in the northeast with all the potholes so they did have visit to the rim shop to get straightened
out before I painted them.
out before I painted them.

Looks good Iggy! I got the same white with my TL. I imagine that Kenwood unit brings a whole new element of sound to the TL! I will post pics after I get the wheels on. I thought stocks were pretty good considering I've driven my car on and off road.

Thanks man. Yeah I should have chucked the stock HU a long time ago. LOVE the the Kenwood unit with 5v pre-outs. Coupled with the Fosgate amps, JL components and Infinity sub , it sounds really nice.

This. I was rockin' 18x9 with a +30 offset and the rears rubbed like crazy. It was shredding my rear tires each time I took a corner or hit a small dip on the road. Since then, I've changed my wheels to the 18x8 aspecs (+45 offset). I had the fenders rolled and cut some parts of the bumper. If you want to stick with your current wheel set up, I highly suggest a fender roll.

With the 17s, I don't have that much rubbing. I was able to roll the fender a bit using a wooden little league bat. I was only to roll it slightly so it still rubs a bit on big bumps. My car has so many dents and scratches I cant see me shelling out a lot of money to buy a fender roller. I need to hunt down a new passenger fender and front bumper. I just haven't have had the time to go junk yard hunting.
