Inside OEM Honda oil filter after 7k oil change

OK Gentlemen, take a look inside my Honda OEM oil filter after 7,000 mile oil change. You will be the judge. As far as I can see the oil filter is pretty clean, no sludge or debris but the oil is JET BLACK.
I used Mobile 1 5w-20 synthetic and Honda OEM oil filter. I drive my for Uber and put about 120 mile/day and 6 days/wk. So in two months I reached 7,000 mile. I reset the MID around 3,500 miles at 0% oil life and did not change the oil but kept adding oil until it reached 7,000 mile.
Now I filled up with Mobile 1 5w-30 Extended Protection and Mobile 1 M1-110A Extended Protection oil filter and plan to change it at 7,000 mile again.

There is absolutely no reason to buy Mobil 1 EP if you plan to change it at the SAME INTERVAL as normal Mobil 1.
Mobil 1 EP is good for +12K intervals or more, You will be wasting perfectly good oil by changing it at 7K!
Its like buying "Mobil 1 Anual Protection" and changing it every 6 months.

OK. Will see how it will go with the EP oil and filter.

Just FYI: The normal scheduled interval (Not MID calculated) of most J-Series is 7500miles as per Honda maintenance manuals.
That is what Honda used to recommend before the "Adaptive" OCR (Oil Change Reminder) was introduced on the MIDs. So hitting 7K is not a benchmark at all on full synthetic, for most of us it was the regular oil interval on off the shelf dino oils.

According to Mobil:
Mobil 1 "Full Syn" was designed for that 7500 mile OEM interval, but its so good lab tests prove it can reach 10K easily.
Mobil 1 "Extended Performance" was engineered to double that normal interval to 15K, Mobil is conservative on its ratings so that oil can work as high as 20K.
Mobil 1 "Anual Protection" was designed to be YEARLY BASIS with a normal interval as high as 20K... So that oil is probably rated for 25K!!!!

So unless you do more than 15K yearly? Mobil 1 EP is overkill and will work for yearly changes as it has always worked for me for the past years on both of my Acuras doing YEARLY Changes. On my TL-S the yearly changes started over 100K ago, the car is running like day 1.

If you are using the MDX for UBER then it falls into the SEVERE Conditions as those are probably 100% City Miles...
In that case I would do one of two things:

-Change my oil Monthly using cheaper oil regardless of miles.
-Change my oil on a Mileage basis using premium oil regardless of time.

If I was in your boots I would probably use Mobil 1 Anual Protection and change it every 6 months and the filter every 3 months regardless of miles.

i think I will stick with Mobil 1 EP oil and filter for 7k miles for now regardless of time for doing Uber. Maybe later I move to Mobil 1 AP for 10k miles

Sounds about right... As long as more than 90% of your miles are City miles? That oil is probably the wisest choice..

Although I would still do a Blackstone labs analysis to confirm, as Uber work might be more stressful than those of normal driving falling into severe conditions.

Yes 90% Of my Uber driving is in small city around college town , not big city like NY City or Chicago. Very small city. It's Champaign Illinois. You know where University of Illinois is? My MID oil life show up 5-0% at the end if each month which came to around 3000-3500 miles. So I am tired to change oil every month.

Keep in mind, it is widely know/reported on BobIsTheOilGuy.com that Mobil uses an additive package in Mobil 1 which darkens with heat; even in a brand new engine Mobil 1 will darken within a few thousand miles and will be full black after 7,500 miles. Said another way, this phenomena has nothing to do with the oil being dirty or exhausted.

Our 2010 X is the first Honda vehicle we’ve owned. Unlike our previous Toyota and Lexus cars, the X turns all oil black after 1-2k miles. When FF turned black I assumed it was the high moly but Havoline, Castrol and Pennzoil dino and Mobil 1 EP also turned black. Also burns 1 qt every 4K miles. Never had a car that burned a drop before this X.

Yeah the +2010 models are known to burn oil on their J37s..
Something to do with the cylinder liner they used on them makes them more prone to oil burning than the early 2Gs (07-09s).

My early 2G (07) burns oil but after the 8K line, probably due to the oil breaking down at that point but it only burns around 1/4th a quart until I replace it by december..

The oil change from the 7k miles is so dark that when i tried to shine a high intensity LED flashlight through a clear bottle with the oil inside, there is no light pass through the oil. I can not see any light on the other side, it is completely dark .

Once again, just because the oil is dark that in no way indicates whether the oil is totally fit for continued engine protection, or totally exhausted.
