Hot Hydrogren Peroxide / Sensor

So last week in the drive thru the server hands me my coke. As I bring it in to my car my shirt sleeve catches the door lock and yep, the cup flies out of my hand and all across me , the other passenger seat, door, dashboard, (rubber) floor mats, in between seats and of course the GEAR SHIFTER!!!! I cleaned up as best I could in the moment and later on. 3 days after the incident I go to leave the house and guess what? The car wouldn't move out of ( P). I instantly google 3G TL stuck in Park. Needless to say I am not interested in tearing apart the center console to clean out soda gunk and syrup. I was stuck in Park, Reverse, Drive for 4 days and finally I figured if Peroxide can clean batteries then surely it can clean soda gunk. So I heated up peroxide to almost boiling and with a cup poured it in slowly working through the gears as I poured the peroxide on the gear shifter since it was confirmed none of this liquid would make it into the transmission. I worked this in slowly for a couple minutes and cleaned excess. A day later and I am happy to report that my sensor is no longer giving faulty reads of the brake not being pressed and is moving in and out of gears perfectly. Hopefully this resolved hours of labor to clean.

The center console is not that hard to tear out Now you just have water underneath there that will now lead to potential mold growth... Hydrogen Peroxide is just water with extra molecules of oxygen. Once that oxygen disappears, you're left with water. Water = mold.

I'm not worried about mold. I'm worried about getting the heck out of the middle of the street because my car is stuck in reverse lol

see at least, i'd be okay with that as a majority of it would evaporate. Most drug store hydrogen peroxide solutions are only 3% hydrogen peroxide, guess what the other 97% is

Well fellas the safety switch began to stick again so I just bit the bullet....

as I would press the brake I could see the lever moving at a snails pace to clear the shifter or it just wouldn't move at all unless I banged against it. No bueno
First cleaned with alcohol and Q-tips, then i worked the damp alcohol rag back and forth .
Completely got all the gunk out. It was disgusting. Now lever snaps in and out of place perfectly
