'07-'08 TL-S Harder to find for under $10,000

It seems that the three GEN type S has leveled off at around $10,000- I searched extensively for the last three months nationwide from private sellers to dealers and all TL type S had one thing in common anything under 130k miles and 3owners or less even modded out were 10k-17k- it’s a wonderful thing to have so many things going for it especially reliability luxury technology performance and amazing lines

A well kept Type-S with 1-2 owners and under 130k miles is about 10-13k. 3-4 owners with over 130k miles is about 8-10k based on condition for the most part. I got mine at such a great deal I was considering selling mine for 9500 and flip it and get another one. lol

I did a lot of shopping earlier this year while I was looking for a 6MT with low mileage, in great condition, and no mods. It took me five months and I looked at many dozens of cars (seems like hundreds but I'm sure that's an exaggeration).

In the end I opted for a 2006 non-Nav 6MT in extremely good shape, no rust, and with only 114,000 miles on the clock. In the process of my shopping I figured out the 6MT models were fetching anywhere from two to four thousand dollars (asking price mind you) more than comparable automatic models.

The guy I bought mine from had two, a 2006 6MT with 114,000 miles on the clock (the one I bought), and a 2008 Type-S Automatic and Nav with 86,000 miles on the clock; the asking price for the Type-S was $14,000 while the ask for the 2006 was $12,500. Both cars were immaculate; he said he'd put the Type-S up for sale two weeks prior and had a fair bit of interest, but the "lowly" 2006 6MT, which was posted for only about 20 hours on Craigslist before I bought it, had already had more than twice as many inquiries.

In the end I managed to talk him down to $10,000 in cash. Did I over pay? Possibly. But after shopping for so long, and finally finding a 6MT so clean, I didn't care.

Got my 07 TL Type-S 6MT for $10,500 out the door (used car dealer). 139k miles, one owner, no accidents, clean title, 100% stock. I feel it was a fair price for the car, and I'm loving it so far.

New owner here...barely 24 hours in. I paid what I consider to be top dollar for an '08 TL Type S w/Auto. 1 owner, 73K miles @ $12,900 Looked for quite awhile to find this one and the guy didn't budge much on price.

I'd hesitate to call the Type-S a collectors car, but with the high demand and low availability they're certainly demanding top dollar. The 4G and TLX have only sold a fraction of what the 3G did. The Type-S, and 3G in general, had some sort of "magic" that the 4G and TLX don't have. Especially the Type-S.

Personally, I'd take a manual SH-AWD 4G any day of the week over a manual Type-S. But that's just me.

Personally I would take the 3g Type S MT over 4g TL any day since I don't have to worry about oil consumption issue and no propeller shaft issue along with long waiting list for the MT axle.

OP I paid mid 20 ish for my TL-S back in 2011-2012.

Yeah, Type-S 6MT, or even a regular (2004-2006) Gen 3 6MT trumps any 4G TL, regardless of trim and model year. IMHO.

Sounds about right, as I picked mine up for $13.5K with 64K last year. FYI, I got an alert on a 07 or 08 TLS in KBP with 54K miles for $14K in Ohio somewhere. Seemed like a solid price especially if you are set on that color.

Finding a WDP 6MT Type S is impossible here in Canada. Saw one a year ago but that was $15k and maybe one more that was modded (no thanks). I haven't seen one since I search regularily for a 2nd set of winter waffles. Surprisingly, I've seen a half dozen KBP, which is nice but just not my cup of tea.

The name for your TL-S is CBP (Carbon Bronze Pearl). Don't expect to find a clean KBP or MRP especially in MT with two tone seat without paying premium. However I also notice some car on Cars.com had premium price just because the exterior color is KBP lmfao.

Just like horsehoez, I too bought a TL earlier this year. I really wanted a TL-S. But the ones around my area and miles away, were pirced really high or priced just right but had issues. I came out on top (at least I felt like I did) and bought a clean 06 TL Sport with 65K for $11k. A TypeS of that caliber would've been way higher.

I am glad I was able to buy KBP TLS (Auto) from family member with 72K miles for $12500 last year, one owner and all the maintenance done from dealer, even timing belt & water pump replaced at 60K

having had both generations I would love to have all-wheel in the 3G with the 4G interior and tech. Getting used to FWD is the only downside for me. The TLs is still the best looker though

I'm a function over form sort of guy. The TL-S is sweet, but the SH-AWD has too many upgrades to justify the TL-S simply for looks. It's all subjective
