New to the TL World. Slow build

What's up folks! Finally got out of my 04 TSX and into this beauty! 08 with 113k on the clock. Great part is it was one owner and they kept up with maintenance. No accidents either. It'll be a slow build process. Plan to keep it simple....for now. In 2 or 3 years, I'll get a 4th gen TL SH-AWD and supercharge this one. Plans for this:

-Wheels(18x9s or 18x9.5s)
-Coils(Tein Street Advance Zs)
-Ingalls rear camber/toe arms
-Front lip
-Tint
-Possibly exhaust(pending sale with a friend)

On to the pics!!
My old TSX. This is when it was on 18x10.5s

Here's the night I got it. Had the tint done that day:

Replaced the plugs and tires. I had some G35 19x8/8.5 wheels that I traded for these XXR 526s. 18x9 all around. Gonna run some 235/40s on them soon.

That's all for now. I'll update this build as it slowly moves along.

I used to have those wheels on my BMW, I liked them. That TSX looked good.

congrats on the new TL, looks clean! and sounds like the previous owner knew how to take care of it.. as you probably already know, a nice drop and some wheels will really set your TL apart from the rest of the stock ones running around
how do you like the 2 extra cylinders compared to the TSX?

Thanks. I've wanted them for a while and finally have a set. Soon as I got them, one of my friends offered me $400 for them. Hahaha. Haven't even test fitted them. Lol. Won't do it until I'm ready to throw everything on the car. Suspension wise at least. Coils, camber/toe kit, new tires, and then head to the shop for an alignment that same day. And the TSX was nice. But it had it's flaws. Navi screen and DVD rom went bad. That's $800+ to fix there. A/C compressor went bad. Had to throw in a new trans and clutch($2600). After that I was done. Lol.

Thanks man. and yeah. They definitely did take care of it. Only thing that hasn't been done is the timing belt/water pump. I can get to that later tho. Love the extra power. OMG! Lol. I've been stuck with cars with less than 200hp all my life. The TSX was the highest one yet. Then I get this, I'm killing my gas mileage because I have a heavy foot. Hahaha.

I would but I just spent $400 on new tires and an alignment for those. But I'm going to keep the OEM this time around. Last time I sold them, I regretted it. Unless you have some aftermarket wheels to trade. Hahaha.

congrats on the purchase, I don't like the 04-05 TSX because lack of torque on low end. They fix it on the 06 model and that explain why the 2006-2008 worth way more than earlier model.

horseshoez, you really want upgrade to 07-08 wheel? i like 05-06 one since its easier to clean.

Of that I have no doubt, but I do like the look of the 2007-2008 non-Type-S wheels better than my 2006 wheels.

Hmmm, no, all I would have for a trade are wheels off my 2006.

Yeah. It had ok power. But tq numbers sucked for it. Kind of disappointing when I found out. Especially when I was beaten by a 91 Accord with an H22 swap. Ugh.

Oh ok. I'd be for it but I just spent a lot of money on these tires. If you had some aftermarket wheels, it would be worth it to me. I like the 04-06 wheels too. But I like these as well. Hahaha. I might get a set just to have in the shed for winter.

You can find the 07-08 Wheel set for cheap lol. I saw one with decent condition near me sold for $200

OP I drove the AP1 and notice how I need constantly on 3rd gear (Vtec range) to get any engine response, AP2 was a huge improvement even tho you lost 1k RPM rev.

Kind of funny, my 2001 Accord V6 EX, with 200 HP gets just slightly lower fuel economy than my 2006 TL 6MT (the Accord gets about 30/26 while the TL gets about 32/28 Highway/Urban).

Lol. I had an 01 Accord. Without an alignment I was getting 430-440 miles out of a tank. Lol. And yeah. I'm spending a lot on gas because I'm trying to find a good cruising speed for going back and forth to work. But I've about got it now.

Dag!! There was one at the dealership I used to work at. But it was modified. Sitting there it would drop the gas needle. Hahaha. I can only imagine owning one.

Yeah it was! The 06-08 was nice too but the lip kits...no so much. The only ones that looked good were the EuroR front lips on those. All the others were hideous. Lol.

Thank man! Always nice to meet locals! Once I get a couple things done to the TL, I'll be looking for some local meets to attend.

Mounted the wheels today to see how they would look. Love the look. Might end up trading them tho. Looking for some concave wheels possibly. But I like the look of the lip tho.

Will be selling these wheels today or tomorrow. The lip thing is nice. But I'm not too keen on the look. Idk what I'm going for. I keep seeing these nice F80 M3s and I want that kind of fitment. Lol. It sounds weird. I know. Idk....I'll put the cash away and save up. Then I'll have the money to figure out what I want to do.

Lol. Been known that. I wasn't saying I wanted to get some BMW wheels. I was saying I want that kind of fitment. They look great with some wheels and lowering springs. I think I found the wheels tho. I might end up just going with springs. Don't want to do coils and spend all that money when I don't want to do much with this car any way. IDK. I have a blank canvas and don't know what to do. Lol.

XXR wheels are gone. Been hunting for the look I want. At 1st I was thinking just some Tien S-Techs will work. But I know if I got them, I'd want a lower drop. So ill be going with some Tien Basics. Was gonna go for the Advance Zs but I don't need all of that.

Been searching for wheel fitment too. At one point, 18x or 19x10s was gonna be the fitment. Nope. Looked at some 18x9.5s with a +30 or lower offset will give me the fitment I want. Friend has a Type S A-Spec front lip I can get for cheap. That and a J Pipe for the time being. Maybe even some mufflers just to free up the exhaust.

That's all for now folks! Hopefully ill have this set up done next month.

Basis for sure...I had SS and I NEVER touched dampening...I've ridden in a car with the Basis and they ride smoothly!
and yes, I can confirm owning a CTS-V makes you feel like you live at a gas station.

Lol. I'm sure the CTS-V keeps your at a gas station. That's why it should never be a DD. Hahaha. But at least it still looks good and goes fast.

And from everyone is telling me, yeah. The Basis seem to be what I need/want for what I'm looking to do. Still stuck on what wheel to go with. Before I was looking to do concave design but I like the look of the lip on this car. It'll give it the clean/classy look that I'm going for.

Told yall this is a slow build. Lol!

Updates:

Had a Takeda cone filter on the stock intake tube. Sounded great. Don't think I gained anything from it. Took it off. Been looking around for different sets ups(exhaust, intake, and suspension). Not gonna go with one of the ATLP or other aftermarket set ups. I don't want to spend $900+ on an exhaust set up. I don't see the value in it. Been looking around I've been seeing people get more gains from just doing either PCDs and/or J-Pipes. So mod list will be J-Pipe, mufflers(not sure if it'll be dual tip or oval style yet), and CAI. Suspension? Gonna go with some D2 springs a friend has. That'll solve my mod fever for the time being. Just installed my Nokiya 2500k bulbs and front mudflaps. Getting the Type S front lip painted this week. Also had a friend DM me about some RH 19x9 wheels for dirt cheap. Just gotta refinish them. Hopefully by the end of the month, I'll have the car looking slightly better. I'll get some pics of the fogs later tonight. I think I might end up going with an HID kit for them. The 2500k don't seem that bright. I do like the color of them tho.

I'll be picking up the springs from a friend tomorrow. Lip should be painted today. I'll see about having it installed this week some time. Worst case it'll be on Sunday.

So....update. Not much of one. Lol.

Lip is gone. Never ended up getting it painted. Guy who was painting it got stuck with a bunch of work. I ended up selling it because I had a bad month at work. Ugh...

But this month is going crazy well. So I'll be getting coils, wheels, STi lip, and mufflers next month. Possibly a J-pipe as well.

Sadly, I have a rip in my front passenger seat that just keeps getting worse. I hate the fact that the only companies that make the interior sets for our cars take a month or more to make them. Ugh...
