The gas refill door on my 2017 MDX is not flush with the panel. Seems to stick out too far from the locking detent. Anyone else have that? Any luck just adjusting the detent? Thanks...

Yeah mine too. Just was about to post a thread about it.
It's not much, maybe 1/32" here's a pic. Wondering if this only happens on Hybrids. I'm also notice little paint imperfections on mine. Both rear body panels have paint overspray .Very disappointing for nearly a $55k car. Acura quality sucks!
Jdpdata, Yours looks like mine. My sequence number is 293, were our cars coming down the line together that day? So far I haven't noticed paint overspray. But I am impressed with my first trip mileage. I went 406 miles, all interstate, cruise set at 80mph and got 29.5 mpg! And the previous tank, my low level light came on right at 2 gallons remaining.

Mine is #1721 build date 8/17.. haven't gone on road trip yet. But we're averaging 26-27MPG. Some guy on here got 45-50MPG!
My gas door has same issues, seems to be common on many MDX units I have viewed both hybrid and non-hybrid. Mine is sequence 622, bought May 30 2017. Its not the quality of my Audi A6 but its still a good car.

Paint imperfections . . . . . . .. did you buy your car in the dark? You should be looking at everything before taking delivery. Once you leave, it becomes harder to get the dealer to fix those things you find after the fact. Just saying,

No I didn't purchase in the dark. White car in bright sun it's impossible to see tiny imperfections. Not a big deal anyways, just not the kind of quality I come to expect from an "Luxury SUV". My Toyota have better paint, just saying...
No pics, doubt the camera can focus on it. It's like little nubs in the paint. Not sure what would cause it. Maybe paint room wasn't completely clean. Can't see it unless you're right up into the paint at 45° angle.
Here's a shot..hope you can see contamination in the paint beneath clear coat. Both my rear door panels have this issue. Not visible in most cases. Only reason I noticed was when I was buffing off sealant the other day. Not sure if they can even fix this without repaint the entire door. Not that I will bring it in for this minor issue..but still is an issue for such an expensive vehicle.
So far all three of us with the gas door ajar are Lunar Silver. Puzzling. I'm going to ask our service manager to search the monthly service newsletters for a fix. They sometimes feature a fix and wait for us to come in and complain.
Our 2017 black hybrid also has the same non-flush gas door. We were going to ask about it during the next service visit - not a big enough deal to schedule something.
Also, we recently noticed some white spots/circles on 1 area - like something was sprayed on the MDX. It will not wash off and we do not remember seeing it before so not sure if it is new or if we bought it like that ... ? They threw in the Simoniz paint protection for free so we will have to see if it covers this issue.
Otherwise it has been trouble free other than those 2 times we got the hybrid system error message - which has since been corrected.
MDX's build quality is getting worse and worse. My 2017 MDX has so many flaws including fitments, paint and leather seats. My 2011 prius has better quality than my MDX. The prius is made in Japan.
Yes, I agree the newer Acura are crap quality wise. IMO, the 90s we're the best for Acura. I had '92 Legend Coupe, '90, and '94 Integra..all perfect! Shame that Acura doesn't take pride in their craftsmanship anymore.

Overall I'd agree with you - although the 93 Legend that was the wife's had a defect inside the A-pillar that resulted in sunroof water draining down and dripping on top of the fuse box. Took the dealer almost 3 months to diagnose, and once discovered, moved my wife into a 96 RL. So even back then there were some issues. My '17 MDX seems to be built really well (build of 7/17)....

Wow that's horrible!
I'm actually at the dealer right now to take care of bumper misalignment problem.
Both my front and rear bumpers have a huge 1/8" gap. Service guy said all of them have this issue from the factory..WTF!
That's terrible quality control for a $50K+ SUV.
I'm asking them to see if they can fix the gas door issue too..not holding my breathe on that one.
So far I'm not too impressed.
jdpdata, Can you pass along what your dealer did to adjust the fuel door? Is it something us DIYers could do for ourselves? Thanks...
Sorry, I was in a hurry this morning. I didn't even bother asking what they did.
All he said was he send my car to bodyshop for adjustments.
It's a very minor adjustment whatever they did, but it's a tad more flush now.
The fuel door on my 2017 is also off...not completely flush with the body and also seems a little misaligned. I noted it at delivery, thinking it was an easy fix. The service department told me they didn't have a fix for it "yet" but would make note of it. They said all of them on the lot had the same issue, some worse than others. When I bring mine in for its first service, I'm going to ask about it again. I bought mine 8/31 but don't know the build date. How do I find out?

Build date is on sticker in Driver's door jam. My dealer was able to fix my gas door misalignment. Not sure what they did though. It was a quick fix.

A little twist here, a tug there . . . see . . .all fixed! If that is the case, at least you didn't try to do anything with it. If they screw it up, they fix it at their expense. Same holds true for you. You screw it up, you fix it, at your expense. Glad you were able to get it done to your satisfaction. I'm waiting on the '18 hybrid. I'll be sure to look at that as soon as I put eyes on mine.
Same issue, just had it in last week and my dealer said the same thing as several above - there is no known fix yet, as they have had several like it and tinkered away fruitlessly.

Purchase Brand new Elite model on Aug 31st, 2017. returned to them 3 months later with 9000Kms. Discovered overspray and painted vehicle parts that were not disclosed. Put me in a brand new one a week later. exact same vehicle. But i cannot believe the difference in colour from the one I returned. crazy! Flush gas door issue as well and gap on one hood to fender is larger than the other. plan on asking them to fix 1st service.
Went in for some routine maintenance and was told that the MDX fuel door is supposed to stick out that much to prevent whistling.
On the 1 hand, I find it odd that the MDX is the only model that it sticks out. However, it sticks out on all the MDXs so maybe it is true?
Either way, they said that the only way to make it more flush was to bend the door so we passed ...
Sounds complete horse s**t to me. The dealer where I got it fixed apparently ordered the entire gas door assembly and was able to get it flush. I hear no whistling.....Your SA should be ashamed for telling you that...

Some service writers should be on the sales lot because they are really creative at selling, or 'unselling' as it were. They are expert at turning customers away from work they don't want to bother with or that isn't profitable enough. Dealer service is a profit center that probably adds more to the bottom line than the sales department at some of the dealers that deeply discount vehicles and then try to sell prepaid service contracts.
