^^Is that official? Not questioning you as I know you have been such a reliable source of info. However, this question/answer has bounced around for the last month or so, with no one really able to confirm. I'm close to pulling the trigger on an MDX and if improved tech is on the way for the '18 model year, I will certainly lean in that direction.
The only thing I can say is that slowly they are entering more and more service info about the 2018 MDX. That means that it will be announces officially soon......
I doubt they would post Service-Repair procedures on Honda's official service website, if it was not true.....

I am hoping I do not steer you wrong.......just wanted to let anyone interested in purchasing an MDX, that maybe they should wait for the 2018s.......As we all know the current generation of the infotainment system in our cars, are not up too par....
^^Oh, I am not holding your feet to the fire on this. All of the info I have seen you present in this forum has been spot on. I am appreciative of the insight. Unless I get a sweet deal, I may just have to hold off on the '17. I'm in no real hurry. Still trying to get a legit nibble on the RX.

I have a 2014 MDX SH-AWD, and I don't mind the infotainment system......it does what it is suppose to do! It has been one of the best vehicles I've ever bought, and not a single problem!
From my perspective I am sad to say that I don't see an appreciable improvement between the 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid and my new 2017 MDX Sport Hybrid infotainment system regarding speed of use. If it is better I would characterize it as marginally improved. There are times at start up that it is painfully slow to be ready to accept commands setting up a new address we are heading to. Once it is up and running, then it is acceptable, but not fast by any means. Seems like a processing capacity issue. We have talked about this on the forum previously so there is no need to rehash it again. It would not be a deal breaker for me if I was looking to buy one again. I'll be good for a good long time with the stallions in our driveway. Maybe in a few years when my oldest is ready to drive, we will look at the Honda Accord Hybrid as that it fairly inexpensive. I think those are mid-30's for pricing.

I am interested in a Hybrid which has no marketing support or low lease rates so will wait awhile for the dust to settle. Looking at a hybrid as well to replace a 2015 RX450h. The pricing for a hybrid MDX was fairly good during the recent sales campaign prior to Labor Day. Now they appear to have no incentives on '17's other than the standard military/student discounts.

The MDX Hybrid is awesome and hopefully we both can snag one when better pricing/leasing rates are available.
Yeah - I love mine. Don't know if they will get better pricing until they make more of them. They disappear from the lot very quickly - at least around here. My dealer is begging for more
I agree - based on images anyway, I like the 14-17 better. Maybe I'll feel differently after seeing the 18 in person.

I in turn really liked the new 2018 Camry XSE they had on display. It's quite nice looking with quad exhaust tips...

Agree. I keep looking at the Monterrey release photos trying to like it. It's just not happening. I don't know what it is. For one, I am not a fan of the color, and I like red. Maybe the picture doesn't do it justice.
I'm on the fence. There are aspects I like and others I would have to see in person to establish an opinion. It is different, but a little too close to the TLX in the front. I would not trade my current RLX SH for a new one, but if I were in the market I wouldn't turn down a deal on the current body/trim style, but at the same time I would not run to the new version based on looks alone. To be competitive, Acura needs the Precision Crafted Model and even more performance.
I really like the Precision Crafted Concept look and I suspect the next RLX will be something along those lines (tweeked for better ergonomics as per RLX- Sport Hybrid's inside info).
For the MMC, they couldn't redesign the car without MASSIVE reengineering of the mechanical components, (that new design complete with new mechanicals is already in the pipeline), so they applied a few cosmetic changes to appease those on the internet calling the RLX "bland" (many of whom have probably never seen it in person) while leaving the core of the car untouched. With expected sales of this new MMC to be "limited", I suspect it was a decent choice as a temporary "Band-Aid" solution.
In my opinion, the weakness of the MMC is the fact that they changed the design style of the front quite dramatically, but left the rest of the car largely as is. This, in my opinion, leads to a situation where half the car has a different design feel from the other half which leaves an overall confused feel to the design. I understand and agree with their reasons for proceeding as they did, but I see it as nothing more than a stop-gap measure to hint at what is coming in the future. That said, with the mechanicals untouched, it will still be a very fun car to drive and should make some loyal buyers out of those who drive one.
FWIW, I still get LOTS of positive feedback on the looks of my '14 RLX.
Seriously I love my SH but once the new MBs are in production for a few years I may be convinced to get back into an E43 or E63 maybe. CPO with unlimited mileage warranty is a strong selling point (on a 2-3 year old rig). I know they are completely different beasts than Acura and one of the major detracting points is maintenance costs but most MB are really good looking inside and out. Those $300.00 oil changes in my former E550 still sting... Oh that's right... they also lubricated the moonroof tracks in that cost.
The wheelbase . . . is just too short for a flagship from an luxury brand! Also, the rear overhang is dis-proportionally too long for such a short wheelbase. Acura needs to come up with something big to justify its brand and the premium against the TLX; or it might just kill RLX all together. I really liked the G2 RL inside-out, but the ride was poor compared to the ride from a TL, so I ended up with a TL.
I'd have to agreed with George that the '14-'17 design of the RLX looks much better and cohesive than the grafted look of the '18. I feel that Acura did a good job of refining the "Keen Edge" design first incorporated into the last gen TL with the '13-15 sedans, but grafting the DPG on these otherwise streamlined bodies looks just awkward. Once full redesigns occur with the DPG as the focal point, perhaps the design will grow on me... Now, if I could just have Illinois repeal the law requiring front license plates, I would enjoy my RLX that much more....

Couldn't agree more. It looks very "off" and disproportionate from front to back. Especially in the side profile view.
IMO, the TLX-L (long-base) that was showcased in China earlier this year was a better take at what the RLX MMC should look like. All they had to do was give it the double-jewel eye and change it to the horizontal floods, and done. All the chrome and weird front end elements in the 18 RLX just look goofy.

I've read various threads and websites that a true longitudinally designed platform is being developed to introduce the Precision Concept in production form. Rumors entail an exclusive Sport Hybrid drivetrain with a probable 3.0 V6T engine but may remain FWD based. Honda had also patented a P-AWS system to work in conjunction with this system. It's likely to be a limited release like the RLX, and possibly to be named the WLX or some similar nomenclature. This platform may also spawn a performance-luxury coupe and a performance SUV/CUV variant to expand Acura's offerings... 2019-2020 release...
I'll believe that stuff when I see it. Hondacura is famously close to the vest about new platform releases. Whatever they do with the next RLX, I hope it kicks ass. Things are looking positive so far with newly released products.
At this point, I am just hoping for infotainment changes in the soon to be sold 2018 RLX. The cars are likely already being manufactured, so it's likely too late for change now. As I keep saying, the new infotainment system is much better, so I don't see why it woldn't be in the flagship design.
Yep. It was noted and discussed briefly in the first sticky at the beginning of the postings. Great news for the '18 buyers. A real punch in the mid-section for the rest of us, especially if you just bought a '17 and didn't knock it out of the part negotiating.
My $0.02: I think the strong consensus from those of us Acura-Geeks on this website is that the RLX Sport Hybrid is a good value and a great car. We’ve all debated that from every azimuth. The quality/reliability on the Sport Hybrid seems to range from very good with minor nuisances (infotainment lag, etc) to perfection. And the resale value is not very different than other pricey sports sedans. But it’s unusual for that much of price drop for same car (....arguably better w seat upgrades, etc).
What will make it a problem is if Acura dealers still continue offering $8-12K discounts on new. I wonder if we’ll be hearing from buyers of new/untitled/outgoing 2018 Advance trim Sport Hybrids this fall who paid $50K when the 19’s start filling in.
