4G Acura TL (2009) Side view mirror replacement
4G Acura TL (2009) Side view mirror replacement
Install time: 10 minutes
Tools: Flathead screwdriver, electrical tape
Mirror cost $73 for both from the dealer in Toronto, Canada.
Tilt the driver side mirror towards the the car as far as it will go then tilt the mirror up as far as it will go. For the passenger side do the same.
Next tape your screwdriver with electrical tape to prevent you from damaging the paint.
Place the screwdriver behind the mirror between the glass and mirror glass housing (the white thing the mirror clips into).
Turn the flathead screwdriver until you pop the mirror glass out do both bottom pieces.
The top part hooks into the housing so once you have both bottom pieces out tilt the mirror glass up (not the glass housing if you hear clicking your moving the housing), wiggle the mirror glass side to side while carefully pullling the glass to the ground be careful not to rip the mirror out because the heated mirror wires are still attached.
Once the mirror is out disconnect the heated mirror wires by gently pulling them from the back of the mirror glass.
Install your new mirror glass by installing the heated mirror wires first (you may have to push with a decent amount of force to get them snug they should not fall off easily),
Next take off the adhesive protector on the back of the mirror
Install the top clips first and push up till you feel or hear it slide in or it wont go in anymore.
Install the bottom piece by holding the rear of the entire mirror housing and pushing the glass till you hear it click in it sounds like it might be cracking but if your unsure whether or not its in just wiggle the side it shouldn't move and should be stiff. Again i found with my car i had to put alot of pressure to get it click in but they are in properly and shouldn't fall out.

Lol I was worried about breaking them when i heard the cracking but if i didnt push hard they wouldn't have gone in over the years i've learned to start off with being gentle then when that doesnt work be as rough as you would with someone who owed you money.
