Virtual cockpit copy (at least they have something), HUD, traffic sign recognition, REAL BUTTONS for controls. I'd take that every freakin day, twice on Sundays....
So the TLX has two screens, big deal. They're not floating on dash, ok fine. Do they add anything useful when not using phone paring? Nope. Other luxury companies do the same as the Accord and have only gotten praise. Not to mention that the second lower screen is useless when you have real buttons.
Ill give you HUD but traffic sign recognition lolol come on man
I really like the lower, wider stance of the new Accord., but I'm not a fan of this dumpy "fast-back" design style that manf are doing today. Never been a fan of it, not even on the A7. And it doesn't look any better on the new Accord.
I do really like the interior, definitely very Audi-esque, and I'm good with that. I love Audi interior design. I'm still putting my money down that the next TLX interior design will be something closer to the Chinese CDX. Maybe something between it and the new Accord. I just don't like the current TLX interior design. I've always said it felt too utilitarian, lacked detail, and still carries that horrible "designed by committee" feel that killed the brand (and Honda) for soo long.
If the 18 TLX had the interior of this CDX, I would have been the first person in line to get one. There's some real class and quality elements in that design above, while still keeping a modern, sleek look-n-feel to it.

the 2.0T paired with the 6MT is the "Sport" trim, which is the lowest level of the 2.0T line up. There is the EX-L and touring models, which will have many more features over the Sport. In essence, the 6MT is a base level car, regardless which engine you choose.
however... I suspect we Canadians will get lucky, and get a nicely appointed Accord Sport, as compared to the US. The current Canadian spec Sport has several nice features that the US doesn't get. Honda loves Canada more than the US.
My point exactly. Would be nice to get the 2.0T Sport with some of the features of the EX-L.
I saw more images of the side profile. The rear part of the side profile looks too "droopy pants" for me. I like the 9G Accord's external design far better and I think it will age better than this coupe-based new sedan, for the reason I stated above.
I've seen pics from a couple angles that look nice - but for the most part I'm still disappointed. It will be interesting to see it in person - I'll likely take one for a drive (just for fun) when they hit the dealer lots.
In the meantime my TLX is coming due for service in August - looking forward to seeing the MMC's on the lot. I wonder if I can get one as a loaner for the day
That CDX interior is very nice. Way better than what RDX/MDX/TLX currently has. It will be interesting to see what they do for next generation. Which model will be released first??

All '18 Accord trims will have LED low beams standard. Touring for both engines will have full LED low/high beams with automatic function. Touring trims will also have Heads-Up Display and Adaptive Suspension standard.
The 2.0T will have a lot of features standard. Here is a list by engine choice.
no, you likely will not get 400hp out of the new accord 2.0T. You can try, but without extensive internal engine upgrades, you will greatly reduce the longevity of that engine. That is a lot of boost to be pushing through a stock block- one that wasn't designed to handle that much power. Yes, Mercedes bushes one of their 2.0Ts to something like 380hp... however, you're comparing a purpose built sport designed engine, to essentially an appliance engine, made to last long and be reliable over anything else.
However, I'm sure you can squeeze up to 50-70hp more out of that setup, without too much sweat. Pushing out 150 extra hp is a different story. That means you still end up with an accord that is putting down 300hp at the wheels.
also, consider the wheel spin with that much power up front. You will have to do plenty of pedal modulation to ensure you're getting grip. You're still good with 300 whp, but going beyond that will make things tricky. You can't just mash the pedal and go.
I don't agree, I have had a few stock motor boosted Honda with over that HP. From experience and from what other have done, I don't see any reason to believe why it can't be tuned for 400hp.
I love the new interior. Very European, elegant and clean. The front looks a bit overboard, but the rear style looks like a 4 door coupe which is very nice.
I like:
1. The 6MT. But I never understand why it's only offered on the Sport trim only when none of the current Acuras offers 6MT. So basically 6MT = NO Leather. Weird!
2. The adaptive suspension. Is it the first available on a mainstream sedan?
But the got rid of the coupe. What a bummer. Hopefully they'll bring back the Prelude

Prelude with 2.0T and 6MT for $30K = WIN WIN WIN.
2017 Accord Sport SE comes in leather. They haven't said the 2018 Sport would definitely be cloth. I'd imagine they'd do cloth in the 1.5 and leather in the 2.0. Who knows.
Autoblog published these pictures. It's an aggressive look by Honda. Is it enough to affect TLX sales?
That infotainment screen looks like an etch-a-sketch with those two knobs sticking out. Honestly very disappointed with this new generation Accord. I love what they did with the Camry, such a shame to see Honda didn't do the same.

The new accord sport 2.0 come with led head light (low beam), Sunroof, Smart key, Apple audio and android auto. Not sure about 1.5t
2018 TLX still no sell. The Aspec SHAWD did spark my interest but not willing to be almost full price for it. Test drive it a couple of time and can see myself buying but with a big discount. Been going to acura dealer a lot to negotiate on the MDX and only see people buy MDX..no body even look at the TLX...and compare accord to tlx base i4 is not even funny....
AND i hate 2018 camry styling inside. I am ok with the camry outside but the inside just ewww...and 34.5k is the lowest price for a v6 camry PLUS option. In intake rate for accord 2.0 will be much higher than 37k camry

I think Taco's point is that it will be difficult to get 400hp out of the K20C4 in the new Accord. It's actually not just a detuned CTR engine. Not sure about the specifics but at the very least, the Accord uses a smaller turbocharger and a smaller intercooler. That might limit how much power you can get reliably. Pushing another 150hp is a lot and most likely will jeopardize engine longevity.
TLX killer? It's on a MMC refresh with the same frame and a few different shaped body panels. I think the next TLX will be spot on as it should either debut with a TypeS or continue with an Aspec. I've been to my local Acura dealers and even I can tell after the refresh business has picked up. I think the next gen TLX will ditch the double screen and be a tad bigger to look more planted and aggressive. The accord looks OK, but it's still an accord. I do like their body design language. Looks like they're chasing the Hyundai Genesis look though. Looks way better than that Camry alien/predator design they keep putting out

I see, those restrictive parts can upgraded. It is a good starting platform for those who would want more power.

Well, not the first. The Fusion Sport which was a new top trim level for 2017 has standard adaptive suspension. Dodge Charger offers it but that's far from mainstream.
Here is a list of vehicles with adaptive suspensions. https://www.cartelligent.com/blog/sh...ive-suspension

Thanks for the link. Can't wait to see. As I said b/f, the Sport trim with the manual has always been pretty basic. Would be nice to see with leather, upgraded sound system, CarPlay......will have to wait to see what it actually ends up with.

I suspect CarPlay will be standard on EX and higher (no LX or Sport) in the 1.5T trims, as it is on the current gen.
The "hole" in the front grill is terrible. Seriously looks like it wasn't finished. Interior is all par with the likes of Audi etc. But I can't get past that god awful front end.

I prefer its front end to the Civic's one. The car is not a looker overall, not even close to the TLX , but we have seen gens of Accord much worse (2003-2002). I owned a 1996 Accord EX (hated the revised tail-end, 1994-1995 was the best looking one IMO, still contemporary) and a EX-L1999 (Lexus-ized).

Yea, I do think extracting 50-75hp reliably is not too difficult. Probably a reflash and you are there. Spend a little more on downpipe, intake, exhaust and may be 100hp extra is available. I'm predicting the stock Accord 2.0T to be making 240whp. If it puts down 320whp, that's already very amazing for a family sedan in this class, for a FWD sedan.
Cough, MMC TLX, cough ... I do agree the front looks a little weird though. The inside looks very Audi-ish, very refined.
My first thought when I saw the new Accord is that it's a mashup of Acura and Audi design. As far as the current TLX, there may be some cross over with the I-4 TSX - which far outsells the V-6 anyways. If it were me, I'd seriously consider the Accord over the I-4 TLX, which I believe is a "bargain" in an of itself.

I fully agree. Depending on the Accord price points VS TLX-I4, you're getting very similar luxury features but with much injected tech. Even if Canada has an I4 Aspec, it's not enough for people to say Acura is superior. Design wise, I don't think the Aspec is that much nicer compared to market trends. The brake calibers REALLY ruin the look, especially after they start to rust in a couple of years.
For Honda, they for sure want the Accord to do well as that's one of their big revenue sources, even if it means cannibalizing the current TLX's sales.

Honda sold 29,791 Accords in June (US) and Acura sold 3,175 TLX's in June. The Accord is the cash cow.
Frankly I'll bet most Honda/Acura executives don't give three hoots if Honda steals some TLX sales as long as it stays in the family.
Yea, they know the current TLX is limited as to what it can do, given the platform it's sitting on. It's the next gen Acura stuff that I'm more interested in. We will see what Jon Ikeda can do with the brand by that time.
Personally I think its good the Accord has gone the route it has. We are Acura enthusiasts (well even that is dwindling for me). Why should we care what the Accord looks like?
I think it will help set the differentiation we've all been asking for ever now between Honda / Acura. Acura is clearly trying to hone in and focus on the sport luxury route, while Honda takes a more conservative utilitarian route. Although that Civic Type R is far from conservative (and hideous IMO).
I think the next gen release from Acura is going to hit the mark. The 18 TLX is a great sign of whats coming, now its just needs a true powertrain to match how Ikeda is marketing the brand and a proper luxury sports interior and it will be money.
Unfortunately Im soo jaded over how they screwed us RLX owners that I doubt I'll have it in me to ever trust them again. I lost a lot of money with that car.
