Funny thing is I didn't even notice the tail lights until I saw these posts, and they do look like an after thought. But somehow, they do manage to flow well with the design.. Can you imagine a designer today just bolting tail lights onto the top of the quarter panels.. I'm sure that would go over big...LOL
The designer of this car, Virgil Exner, is very well regarded in the industry. It's funny because I don't think anything feels like an after thought. The 61 had find and it progressed to the gun sights. The 63 which is the same body as mine does not have the gun sights. Google it.
In defense of the designers back in the 50s/60s, they were under the gun to change the design every single model year. There's rarely two model years that are exactly the same back then, unlike in this day and age where they'll have a 3 or 4 year run with minimal design difference.

I also love a freshly cleaned car. The problem here is a 5% chance of rain turns into a day with the most rain in the past 10 years. Fucking meteorologists. Always rains after I was my car. Previously was like a 0% chance of rain and it rained half the day. I want to say I give up washing it but I know that won't happen.

damn. Looking through those pics. I wish mine looked at good at that one. Same color combo, too.
My current ride is always a joy to drive. How is it when it's a four banger?! 2016 Mazda6
This pic was taken this May on our road trip in southern Utah. Prettiful

The Mazdaspeed6 must have been awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if the next gen Mazda6 came with a turbo 2.5 similar to what the CX9 has. Mazda is racing with a turbo engine in the Weathertech series.
Yup. The zoom zoom concept works for Mazda and they really focus on making sporty cars with steering and handling that goes in hand. My Mazda6 is only a 2.5 but it makes plenty of usable torque. Really fun!

Just don't think anyone has taken the time/$ to pick up a wrecked CX9 & do it. Plus the tuning.I had a Mazdaspeed6 and it was indeed an awesome car. Amazing steering and handling and of course not too shabby on the power front. It had quirks, which is ultimately why I ended up trading it in for my Charger, but overall it was a very fun car to drive. With the Ford Fusion Sport that just came out with the 2.7 Eco Boost engine, that's probably the most comparable car to the MS6 available. I always thought Mazda should offer a Mazdaspeed version of the 6, but they're definitely focusing more on fuel economy these days vs powerful turbo'd engines.

The pic is from last night at a meet.
