Do I need Xenon?

I need to replace both headlights, but I was wondering if I could cheap out and get the halogen ones instead of the OEM HID lights?
Will the plugs fit, and everybody's happy?

No... That's not how it works. You have HID bulbs projectors and ballasts. You can't just swap halogen bulbs in there.

Unless you men replacing the entire headlight assembly? You'd have to figure out which harness to get to replace the wiring for halogen bulbs as opposed to HID

OP - Why would you want to downgrade? Any why do you need to replace already on an ILX?

I believe it is possible to change out the OEM HID kit, however you will need to remove the ballast and find a way to match up the connector to a typical halogen 9006 bulb - This is a pretty big task as you first need to remove the front bumper to remove the head light assembly then you will need to unscrew the white cap behind the assembly to gain access to the ballast and the bulb. (see attached photograph).

I agree with NBP04TL4ME.... I don't know why you would rather replace HID's(Xenon) with Halogen bulbs. The HID (High Intensity Discharge) bulbs run a brighter spark than a filament that glows hot in a Halogen bulb with Halogen gas which burns yellowish opposed to Xenon gas (inside HID's) which burn whiter and brighter. A typical HID set up runs close to double the lumens and approximately twice the distance opposed to halogen bulbs.

Oops sorry the ballast is the silver box located below the large white plastic screw cap. You can see the black connector plug which is not the typical connector for a halogen bulb (the wires to the actual HID bulb are accessed above the ballast).
