My new KB1 NBP, Pics heavy
I recently purchase a 06 RL for daily driving, I was looking to buy an RL back in 2012 if my "wanted car" deal fall through (it was 07-08 Acura TL type S) but in the end I bought a 07 Type S. Fast forward to 2017 as I just looking to kill free time and see this car pop up on craigslist with the right color combo, I later found the previous owner of this car is a senior sale rep at my local Acura dealer where both of my TL service. Carfax showed its a 3 owner and the sale rep take great care on maint and the carfax alone was 7 pages (just from him) major service like 105k with valve adjustment performed on September 2016 and all the fluid drain and fill has been completed as of March 2016.
I have some small issues with the car as with any used car
1. The climate light bulb went out on all buttons so I could not see any of them during night time, I decide to go with LED instead of OEM bulb knowing the OEM love to goes out.
2. The window switch for the driver side is broke where I can't use the auto down feature but $60 + 15 mins of my time and it fixed.
3. Driver side HID bulb turn on with a hint of pink ish, I know it on the way out so I bought a set of Osram CBI as replacement. Installation on the passenger side went smoothly but not so much for the driver side where I dropped the bulb inside the housing so I have no other choice to pull the bumper and headlight. I also upgrade the fog light to LED while bumper is out.
4. I bought a wood shift knob and wooden looking steering wheel. I read the DIY written here on the garage section and come to my surprise no mistake was made, the car still track true and straight like before no issues with any SRS airbag.
5. I had ordered 09+ center console with cup holder and I will upgrade it in the near future.
Here is my progress
Full interior upgrade to LED bulb (no cheap Ebay bulb here)
Osram CBI with Opt-7 Flux beam LED fog light
Six LEDs and all this work needed
don't mind the messy table
CBI with foglight on
Fog light turned off
Wooden looking steering wheel at night, both paddle shifter lit up
Some what completed however more parts in on the way.

Yup I got tired chase down 05-08 Accessory steering wheel since everyone is looking buy the used one. I remember someone post in the past where any 05-12 RL steering wheel will works and your thread confirmed it along with the "-,+" lit up at night, I was able to get a hold on a 2010. I also like the way the 09-12 paddle shifter click some what softer click than my 06 wheel. I saw a USED 05 accessory wheel sold on Ebay for $400 and some poor soul actually bought it.

Car looks very good . I see that you removed climate and audio console to change the bulbs. Was it a hard thing to do? Just like with yours, my climate control lights do not illuminate. My only concern is if I do this and put everything back together, I may have rattling or squeaks when the car is in motion. Those are sounds that I cannot take.

There is no squeak or rattle after this repair since everything is bolt or screw down and the climate control itself actually easy. I will have to go back in there since now the hazard switch light bulb is out

It's funny you mention that, I had the exact same thing happen to me and had to go back in there not long after the climate control bulbs were replaced to do the hazard switch. I actually advise anyone doing the climate control bulbs do the hazard switch bulb at the same time.

All the bulbs are T3 neo wedge bulb, OEM climate control bulb is long and after market LED is shorter but Vleds T3 LED bulb brightness will fix that short issue.

The new (to you) 2G RL looks terrific. Saw one on the road the other day and couldn't stop staring. Congrats!

I manage to swap the Aspec wheel from a local guy for $100 with brand new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S all around. I know I got a deal when he told me he gonna trade the RL for 2017 MDX.
And here is a pic comparison between the Aspec and my TL-S color, also I though originally Aspec on the RL only came in silver or chrome is this correct?

at this rate I probably added front and rear Aspec lip to get the finishing touch.

Just a little update on minor issue need to be addressed.
So after I went through the entire center stack to replace my climate control bulbs only to realize several weeks later the hazard light is out , I should replace the dam bulb when I have everything out. However I also take advantage of the situation and and swap a 09 climate control unit since it has the fan speed and mode button, also realize I just lost the sync feature well at least that how my 09 unit happened that way.
I also installed USA Spec BT45 - Acu and it work wonder however I have several complaints.
1. HFL and BT45 will pick up incoming phone call at the same time (if you have link BT to both unit).
2. There is statics noise in the background if you pause music, I checked all the connection to make sure they are good without much success. The noise came from the front tweeters and goes away when you play music or during phone call.
Lets the pics do the rest.
06 Radio is the left and on the right is from a 09 RL, also noted how the 09 has darker trim like gun metal color along with R.D.S logo (display FM info on the display unit).
For any one wondering the wire connection on the back of the radio is identical.
After the climate control unit has been swap over to my 06 radio
The hazard light switch been pulled out and it can only removed by pushing from the back side therefore it require removal the radio FML..... The bulbs is T3 top one is for back lit and bottom one is for passenger air bag indicator.
Blue tint bulb goes on top and the clear one goes on the bottom (this is old bulb, I replace them both with LED)
I make sure that the LED will last a while without being dim so I went with these instead @2.50 per bulb its much cheaper than OEM.
Climate control unit side by side comparsion
Bottom connector for the Navi control, see how the 09 has extra plug that does not available in the 06 model
part number between the 2
During the madness.
Everything is back together and working like it should be.

I was hesitate to change the bulb during the first time but lesson learned, 5 mins extra can save you a ton of headache later on. I broke even on my case since I swap out the climate control unit.

I like how you are thorough on your updates on your RL. This will help me tremendously and others alike if they were to do what you had to do.

Ok. Thanks. I'm looking at vleds and superbrightleds. I've used superbrights before. The price goes up on vleds wondering if it's worth it? What exactly is canbus anyway? Superbrights offer it and vleds does not

I absolutely LOVE this thread and the detail is awesome! I have always had a soft spot for this gen RL and I aspire to own one someday. I would beleive you if you told me that car was a 2017, the interior condition looks awesome.
Quick question though, are you saying that 2005-2008 RL's did not have a fan speed on the climate control unit or a MODE button? Like for real?

So how does one change fan speed and mode? Via the nav screen?
