TLX must be bigger crap when they have to heavily discount ($8K-$10K) a new car to get sales.

this thread needs more meaningless pictures and diagrams, so here's a giraffe. It has as much relevance to this thread as the 2016 BMW X5

the prices of bmw sedans too pathetic to post . I gave example of BMW largest SUV that is in demand. 2016 BMW 550 certified asking $53k. depreciating $20k per year for certified.

He's also forgetting that people who can afford to buy BMWs, keep buying BMWs. They don't have to slang a 10 year old Honda.

Right.

Rating a luxury automobile by value is like rating a marathon runner by his bench press. It doesn't matter very much.

Speaking of the Corolla, at least we (and Toyota) know what that is for. If you need transportation for a modest living, there really isn't a better car in the market than the Corolla or Civic.

1-2 year old BMW depreciate $20K or $2.46 per mile. That's not bad. Comparison:

Acura that demand $200,000 depreciating $15,000 in less than 1 year and with only 477 miles. That's $31.47 per mile depreciation -- Cars for Sale: Used 2017 Acura NSX for sale in Beverly Hills, CA 90211: Coupe Details - 452130889 - Autotrader

Another Acura that demand $198,500 depreciating $13,550 in 7 months and with only 163 miles. That's $83.13 per mile depreciation -- Cars for Sale: Used 2017 Acura NSX for sale in Los Angeles, CA 90064: Coupe Details - 447110719 - Autotrader

It gets worse. Acura that demand $183,700 depreciating $13,800 in less than 1 year and with only 8 miles. That's $1,725 per mile depreciation!!! -- Cars for Sale: New 2017 Acura NSX for sale in Indianapolis, IN 46240: Coupe Details - 449916429 - Autotrader

Clearly the seller has the wrong tires.

the problem you can find one or two Acura that depreciated but i can find tons of BMW that depreciates.

that 2016 BMW is 8000 mile on it. only use 6 to 8 months. that BMW cost 1/3 of NSX.

now this i8 has only 18000 mile on it and it already lost $50k.

In order for a car to be "used", they have to be sold first.

And you know what happened when that BMW went to the used car lot? Another newer BMW replaced it in the owner's driveway.

Imagine that, there are more used Corolla's than used TLX's. I'm shocked! Could it be because Toyota sells 8.58 times more Corolla's than Acura sells TLX's in the U.S. ?

Instead of looking at total number, let's look at it as a percentage, which would be a more fair comparison.

An unscientific look at the numbers:

2015-2017 Toyota Corolla sales:
2015: 363,332
2016: 360,483
2017: 105,222

Total: 829,037
There are 10,664 used/certified used 2015-2017 Corolla's on autotrader listed for sale across the U.S. That means that of the 829,037 new Corolla's sold, 1.29% of them are now being sold as used.

2015-2017 Acura TLX sales:
2015: 47,080
2016: 37,156
2017: 12,382

Total: 96,618
There are 1,713 used/certified used 2015-2017 TLX's on autotrader listed for sale across the U.S. That means that of the 96,618 new TLX's sold, 1.77% of them are now being sold as used.

lol your first sentence is pretty much what I said.

But ya, this is where I'm hoping the Precision stuff will deliver. The next 5 years will be important and we will see if Acura has learned anything, and if Honda has the balls to invest in Acura.

autotrader sales only corrolla that are not in rentals. It's inaccurate statistics

So I just read somewhere that the TLX A-Spec suspension is a whopping 3% firmer dampening than standard.

What the what?

^^^^^

But factory-tuned suspension comes with full warranty coverage, over aftermarket modded suspension; whereas for tires, it is cheap in cost to upgrade after vehicle sales.

Been Acura's MO since like 2001...the sportier models sportier bits only increased by a small margin.
Almost akin to how Honda handles their sport models...

Isn't 3% like within or slightly out of their margin of error for manufacturing? If so, that means these were from the "bad" batch of dampers. Instead of tossing them, they saved them and called them A-Spec.

Depends on what the tolerance is set at for quality during manufacturing. 3% seems like a lot...

Most of our parts are at a tolerance of thousandths.

lol 3% doesn't sound like a lot but it seems like most reviewers enjoy driving the new A-spec. Perhaps the overall setup, including the dampers, steering ratio, larger rims, wider tires, stiffer suspension components etc all contribute to the overall improvement.

You could achieve 3% just by changing tires size/ratio with stiffer sidewall alone

Hmmm, I think it's 3% just for the dampers...not sure what the total effect is with all the changes combined together.

Unfortunately those aren't summer tires, just MXM4. Still better than the Goodyear tires though.
