2008 TL Type S HID Fog Lights
I just bought a 2008 Acura TL Type S WDP. My first mod will be the yellow fog lights. I want to change it to an HID to match my headlights. Do I need to replace the whole fog lights or can I just change the bulb? What kind of bulb do I need 4300k or 6000k etc to match my headlights?
Thanks,
SJV

You also need to get a ballast if you want to run a HID light, they will not work without one. They sell kits on ebay and a bunch of other websites. They come with 2bulbs and 2ballast, plug and play set up! Easy install!

Old thread but hopefully some has more updated info and photos. I'm looking to upgrade my OE yellowish bulbs. Any idea on the max watts? Ive seen a lot of 80w-100w and wondering if that's too much for the stock system. Also do the led lights produce enough light to be useful to see with? We get a ton of rain and fog here in Florida and I need more than just cool looking light!

^^^ The max watt safely can be use in the fog housing is 55w. (DO NOT use 55W HID). As far as LED goes, mine actually bright as HID minus all the heat crate by HID.

A lot people mis-concept about LED, they are advertise brightest EQUIVALENT to 80-100 watt (at least to me) the actually power usage for LED is significant lower than HID at the same brightness range.

You can thank shitty marketing and ignorance for that. They'll just look at the numbers and think "higher = better"

To me personally, the fog lights when you put HID in there, the light beam will be all over the place, and it will over power our great projectors when looking at it straight. I hate those whenever I see one on the road. Nokia Yellow is better for the JDM look, and will be subtle. For you guys who use LED, are they subtle in terms of light out put and not be all over the place like HID's?

Which LED kit do you have for our fog lights? Do you have a pic by any chance? I have the Osram CBI D2S for our projectors and they are amazing, I've had bad experience with Morimoto D2S bulbs before with mismatch and lalso they burn a little hotter and burned my TSX projector housing bowls , thats why I usually go OEM D2S from then on and don't look back. But this was way back 4-5 yrs ago. I am sure they have upgraded and improved their bulbs now. They are a great company though, the owner Matt has a great collection of cars.

Sorry They only have one color temp (5.5k-6k) available if you going for the full brightness, however they do have plug and play yellow bulb with less light out put.
Sorry these are shitty pics, and please note the glare is from my cheap iphone camera. I will be taking more pics tonight, both car has CBI D2S. Also you can find other Aziner review within this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...-938953/page2/. The RL projector is much better than our TL where they actually take full advantage of the CBI brightness, TL the light kinda scatter a bit at first I thought just my TL however when I bought the Base TL the light output pattern is the same.
Just take your time and you do not drop the bumper if you got small hand. I paid 2 hours of labor for the dealer to install on my TL (I used to work alot hours) Its took me 2 hours to install on the RL. I would take time and going slow.

I took my bumper out and also took the lights out, it was kind of tight in there and I believe on the TL there is a screw on our projector housing cap. Just take your time.

Thanks for the pics. Does the light match the CBI's when looking at it straight ahead?

^^^ around 40 hours of use, I don't drive night time that often so its like a month for me. Where did you get your CBI? Both of my CBI start off yellow color and slowly turn into white as time progress. When I turn it on for the first time in the TL I though I got a knock off blulb but as time progress it got brighter and brighter.

I think revently they switched the label from 5k to "up to 6k" now. There is no 5k option which is what I wanted
no big deal they are there to stay for as long as possible haha
