FJ, you try them cans out.. not the headlight knobby twisty motorboaty bags of sand.. the other ones..
Btw.. just opened up the Funky Gold Citra.. Horree Ballls... it's good. My summer drink. If the store had 20 bottles.. I'd buy all 20.

Yep, I gave them a quick listen. They sound pretty good, well worth the $80. I'm anxious to get them burned in a little more because it doesn't quite feel right yet.
How long do you usually burn them in for? I've had them in the oven at 250 for about 3 hours now. Should I go a full 24 or do you think it'd be okay to take them out before I go to bed?

But I can hear the potential. They're my first set of decent closed-backs; my primary go-tos have been my Grado SR-80s. I bought Jr a set of cheapo on-ears so he wouldn't fuck mine up, they're some MIC amazon special for like $18. inTouch i68 or something. And they were pretty surprising for the price.
These Status are equally impressive in the $$/performance ratio. It does seem like they are good for low end, but not at the sacrifice of the sound field.

I wrapped up me responsibilities and have been listening to some music. They're pretty darned good.
Sub bass is a little lacking, which I guess is expected from 50mm drivers. One of my go-to songs there is Fear Factory - Shock. There's a neat sound phasing from side to side at the start, some crunching bass lines and then a YUGE bass drop at like 30 seconds. In concert, that bass drop will just about stop your heart with SPL. On my stereo, it'll shake shit in my pantry and garage (opposite sides of the house). With the cans I almost get a tingle in my neck. What I did like was the vocal clarity with all the bass mud going on, so that's a definite plus.
Next testing song is Faith No More - Stripsearch. Not so much low end but a lot of rich vocals and miscellaneous sounds throughout. These things shined here. For @justnspace: when you get these, get yourself "conditioned" and then play this song... If my theory is correct, you'll be able to feel it in your spinal cord and your hands will twitch unintentionally.
Fucking Mike Patton's range and tone are just stellar and the bass is almost perfect for what the headphones can do. It punches just right and seems like it's right at the extents of the driver range. PERFECT.

Yeah. These are nice.
Sounds really good with Classic to "Normal" rock. Aqualung sounds good, the remaster of She's Lost Control sounds haunting, London Calling, and my unembarrased to admit band-crush Queens of the Stone Age all sound great.
I'm not blown away by the more electronic and industrial bands and hip-hop/rap doesn't seem to have the full body. But that might change as it burns in.
But still for affordable work cans, these hit the mark. Plus since they look so chinsy and generic, I probably don't need to worry about the janitors stealing them. Especially since all the youths have their Beets headphones. No one will mess with the old man CVS checkout counter specials.

I'm actually a lot more impressed with the isolation and leakage than my first impression.
I had some shit jamming that was blowing out my ear space.. but coworker said couldn't hear anything.
