My TL drives like a Mini-van compared to my Miata. I love it as a daily driver though.
Corrected. That's a complement to Vans. Real vans base off of truck platforms handle like poo, but that's ok. I had an autox tech-inspector ask me if my TL's motor was a mini van motor, lol
Yep I had my TL in for service and they gave me a TLX for a loaner. It was certainly a nice car, but I wouldn't put the word "Performance" anywhere in the category in which it resides. It did not feel at all sporty as compared to my TL, and I let the service guy know when I came back. It was like something my grandmother would drive, although he did say something like he thought a performance version of the TLX was coming. For me, if Acura wants to make a legitimate return to the Sport Sedan market, the TXL Type S would need to have the following:
1. 350 HP, minimum
2. AWD, I assume this will not be an issue since the SH-AWD is a common thing now
3. more aggressive suspension, stiffer, lower ride
4. bigger brakes
5. maybe a nice little spoiler, something like the 3G TL has.
That's the important stuff to me. Manual transmission.... yeah, ok, I get it. But honestly i'm getting old and sit in traffic a lot, and automatic transmissions are faster these days.
I have to ask- did you put the TLX into sport mode? Because if not, of course your TL will feel better. Just clarifying, is all, as most people never mention it.
I could be wrong but doesn't the TLX revert back to its normal mode when you shut off the engine and start it up again? I think you have to manually select sport mode- or so I thought.

Good point. Apparently there is also a Sport+ mode as well?
Not most scientific. But looks like if you put it in Sport the middle dash screen changes to a red background with "S" on it. This may help people who drove the TLX loaners.....
Exactly. I'm thinking most people who don't like it, just got in and drove it. Well if it's in some shitty Eco mode, of course it's going to be lame. Even Mr. Bell did not indicate whether he had it in sport mode or not. If anything, this just gives everyone poor information.
Im not saying the TLX becomes the greatest car ever when in sport mode, but at least let's be giving feedback based on the actual settings. I'm willing to bet most people in loaners didn't even know you can change driving modes.
just to clear thing out, TLX came with Eco, Normal, Sport and Sport +
Eco ---- Well you get the idea, its dial down the climate control system tone the throttle response down.
Normal ---- Normal, except i felt this mode suit old man Buick best, if you want the engine to down shift then ready to lay down more than 50% throttle.
Sport --- In this mode its actually got throttle response like my TL-S, the gear change automatically just like out TL.
Sport+ ---- It tighten up the steering wheel and making it tad heavier feels. The car always running at lower gear, this mode equivalent to our TL left in "L" position
On the other note, you can leave it in sport mode and press "D" button to use the paddle shift full time, press it again to return to "auto" shifting. You can customizing the car according to driver key fob so the car remember your "prefer" mode. I drove all the TLX with possible package/motor combination anything from Base to Advance, 4 banger to V6 with SH-AWD.

If I wanted a car with an Eco mode, I'd get a Prius and use it to pick up ugly chicks with purple hair. I want a real car, not some hippie mobile where you can push some buttons and make the exhaust a little louder and the steering heavier for some unknown reason.

Test drove an 2016 Accord Touring Edition last year. The 6 speed auto shifted so well, I actually didn't miss my manual !
It seems like they finally got the shift programming down pat.

Looks way too big/out of proportion for that sedan....like a big mouthed/lazy face.....quite fugly.
If you watch that video you can see that they BARELY show the front face of the new TLX...maybe in like 2-3 shots for just a second....maybe they themselves know it's pretty bad. Lot of gimmicky shots/edits and the NSX thrown in as well.
I've been looking around for something to eventually replace my '08 TL-S. I've had 4 Acura vehicles but this may be my last, as Acura has turned into what Buick used to be (dull and boring) with the exception of the NSX. And now they no longer have the reliability factor going for them.
