Familiar lines? Alfa 159 vs. 3G TL (UA6)

Resemblance? Coincidence? Thoughts?

Did Jon Ikeda borrow the 3G TL’s “Italianate” lines from Giugiaro?

The 3G concept was revealed in April 2003.

I think the TL has much more of a streamlined and angular look. Both vehicles have a wedge design with relatively long overhangs.

Yeah, that 2nd crease and different C-pillar on the 166 makes the comparison bit of a stretch. Still, the 159 and the UA6 TL look (at least to my eye) like siblings separated a birth, whichever way the lines of "influence" may actually run.

pretty much known fact that Acura took design cues from Alfa and BMW for the 3G TL.
it's quoted on the net somewhere

and funny; i read an article sometime last week about the 159 and how sexy it is. i think it was from jaloponik

Yeah, it was after reading the Jalop piece on the 159 that I said, wait a minute....

If anything the Lancer and TSX are more similar to the 159 with their shorter lengths and long, squinty taillights.

And I always thought the TL looked more like the Phaeton in length and greenhouse shape.
