4g tl mpg

What typical mileage do you see in your TL. Every day driving? I hover between 21-22. I do 70% highway 30% city.
I have a '12 TL SH-AWD auto.

% of highway and city use doesnt mean jack chit!

the MID shows average MPG and Average MPH
include BOTH to show and compare between users

the lower the average speed signifies how much city driving you actually do.

for example; if average speed shows 55mph, we know you're doing mostly highway driving

Same year & model, but mine is more like 80% highway 20% city give or take my avg is 25-28 depending on my style of driving and traffic. At 125k now & still running like she was fresh out the lot. With a fresh new belt & keeping up with all the maintenance I use Lucus fuel treatment 5 gallons from Jegs(cheapest price in the net)
Recommended dosage is 2-3 ounces of Fuel Treatment per 10 gallons of fuel, but I use 4oz. every 2-5 filler ups depending if I'm lazy or not using Chevron/Texaco since its the same or Mobil 1 or Shell. Depending on my location. My company pays for my gas so I try not to splurge

Thank you justnspace for sharing a more detailed post than I was shooting for . I was just asking the average mpg with the average nature. I average 21-22 mpg with mostly highway driving. The next guy might average 17 mpg with more city driving. That is all I was shooting for. I believe my average speed to be between 35-45. Is that why your distance to empty takes a while to update after a fill up and trip reset?

I'd argue my ~65k miles tracked counts as a pretty good sample.

I found the computer was mostly correct (within 1-2MPG) of my calculations

well your numbers don't mean anything, until you throw in average MPH.
Someone could be having fuel issues and comparing mpg would not make sense. It's only when you add average MPH that you get to see the bigger picture.

So then, you could compare fuel economy with some one that has the same average MPH that you have

Read Op thread with a quick glance but Justnspace is spot on. Thought op was looking to get better mpg and asked what typical driving we do in our TL. Idk wth I was reading...

My 6MT averages about 25.7 to 25.9 - depending on season -- with an average speed of about 39 mph.

I drive 90% hwy and 10% city and I generally get 27mpg on 10% ethanol and 28-29mpg on non-ethanol.

I think TL is very good on gas.
I do not care average speed and percentage on local or hwy. I refill when the low gas light comes, and reset the Trip B.
read the miles I drove for entire tank then divide 15.5 gallon
in the summer I got around 29 miles per gallon. in the winter 25 miles/per gallon. btw in the winter I warm up the car for 4- 5 mins.

I usually average around 27-28, but during highway trips it can reach as high as 40. Though usually its only high 30's, because I'll have to pass or stop/go due to tolls & traffic.
.

Edit: hmm wonder why it posted horizontally, I rotated the images...

I drove from Ontario to the east coast of Canada in my '12 SH-AWD, I averaged 7.5L/100km (37/38mpg) on the 3000+km trip. It is a great highway car, no doubt.

That's just his average MPG for ~70miles he went. If that's all highway when he took the picture it wouldn't surprise me.

Average over ~280miles (a tank worth) would be a better snapshot of his MPG

Just recently I went from Mpls to Madison SD mainly on 212 to 23 to 34 - using Non Oxy Premium - About 200 miles - on the way there 30.1 MPG (that was thru small towns). There is alot of rolling hills on the W side of MN. On the way back, I got 31.2MPG. 90 pct on cruise. Course it was higher except I hit a fair amount of traffic once I hit the Twin Cities. Using regular Premium, the best I was able to do was 27ish.

Hi Mickman,

What was the average highway speed? 7.5L is very good. I got 8.7L/100Km at 100km/hr on hwy. I got 14.5L in day to day normal driving (60/40 City/Hwy) and collected a lot Petro points.

Hi Samba,

I didn't use cruise control and I was making a conscious effort for most of the drive to get better fuel economy (letting the car pickup speed going down hills, losing a bit of speed going up hills, etc) so I was all over the place, anywhere from 100-135. I did hit a fair amount of traffic going through parts of Quebec which didn't help but I'd say that a 7.5L avg is very respectable for this car.
