On NYE 2am. On my way home.... no, not one sip of alcohol at all. 48k miles and the car was flawless. Whoever get the chance to grab any driveline parts from that car will be one lucky person. I bought it with 16k about 3 years ago and had 0 intentions of ever selling it.... but, it's gone (well, sitting at the body shop right now) Everything about it was perfect.... paint, body, interior... everything. It was a front-line car for any dealership.
Anyhow- since I had to make a quick decision and hadn't done ANY preparation on buying a new car, I had no idea what I wanted. It felt like I was 10 years old with a gift card and was dropped into a toy store. It was overload. I would've liked to have found a replacement TL, but I'm not one to run out and hurry up and buy something. A 4th gen SH/AWD would've been nice, but again- I would've needed time to find the right one- and I was figuring on spending about $20k for that car. IF I found one- I would've loved it to have been a 6mt- but they pop up every year or so in my area. I quickly began to be drawn to the Accord Sport. They were plentiful in the used segment and all seemed to be priced at $18-20k. Awesome looking car, excellent reviews and very reliable, roomy and economical with the 4-banger. I looked at one that was $20k and the dealer was very firm so I walked away within 5 minutes.
I decided to go on Honda's web site to see what the price difference was between new and used. New were priced at $26,XXX. Pretty significant difference, but they had 0.9% financing for 5 years. Hmmmmmm.... there was also a facelift and 19's for 2017. So, I went to a dealer and spent less time talking price with the Honda dealer than the used dealer. $22,140 plus tax.
Thanks guys.... those of you who know about the car realize how bummed I was. I put a lot of time and effort into keeping a beautiful car beautiful.... I enjoyed spending a weekend day just buffing and shining- and yes, I did take pride in it.
hopefully the Accord will treat me just as well. While I was close to having the TL paid off, I'm back to a 5 year payment again- but, I also am in a 2017 so the trade off is a wash. Payment is $40 more per month.
Nice Accord, but WHY A 4 CYLINDER???
I don't find 4 cyl economical at all. It drinks gas catching up to highway traffic and is a noisy little thing. Should have went accord v6 sport.

i assume that you haven't driven the Sport. The 4 banger isn't noisy at all.
Annnnnnd there is no such car as a V6 Sport.
The closest thing to a V6 "Sport" is the Touring package which is well into the mid $30k's

i dunno about you, but if you put a i4 and a v6 side by side the i4 makes more non power noise. It's a great car but 4 cylinder is just not fun or appealing. In your shoes I would have bought a TL-S for half the price.
If the V6 were an option on the Sport I definitely would've opted for that. No doubt. But, there are trade-off's for everything. First tank of fuel netted me 335 miles in (majority) city driving in ECO mode. Also, 87 octane... no more 93 required. (Not that it makes that much of a difference)
ECO off unquestionably peps things up with acceleration and shifting- at the cost of fuel economy.
A TL-S would've been nice, but I refuse to purchase a high mileage vehicle. Just my preference. No warranty and IF I were able to find a nice S, they're priced in the very high teens.
Personally, I think the Sport looks better than the TL-S. But that just my preference.
Its nice ice to get into a brand new car in the morning and with the 19's and (slightly) tuned suspension along with the electric-assisted steering and vented front brakes- it's a satisfying car to drive.

Thanks for posting up the TL pix... it's always interesting to see how well the car holds up against things like that... the car did it's job and kept you safe.

the sport version of the accord was the LX-V6 not too loaded down with extras and it was fun to drive. IMHO an Accord drives pretty much like any other FWD strutted car.. it was a sad, sad, day wen the double wishbone went the way of the dodo bird.
Now that I broke the 600 mile mark, I was able to step into the Accord just a bit on the highway. Granted, it's not a TL, but the little 2.4L certainly moves the car quite well. No issues passing, accelerating and the car handles very, very well for what it is. It really is a pleasure to drive. I loved the TL and I also love the Accord.
wish I could have both.
also, with mostly city driving- and at the 600 mile mark, I just filled up my third tank of fuel. So, I'm averaging about 330mi/tank of 87. I could only hit 300 miles per tank in the TL with strictly highway driving (and 93 octane).
