So I talked to one of the local guys that I feel comfortable pulling my fenders. Prices decently too. I'm going to get adapters next. Just ordered more 1/4" lines and also got lamin x to somewhat protect the headlights.

No dice on fixing the right front leak. I'm just going to have to replace the entire line and hope that fixes it.
I finally got the bracket in. With wanting it be centered and having the nav unit and sub under there. I didn't have much room so it's way low just passed the nav unit and still kinda off centered to the right a bit but it'll do.
Im still waiting on the proper tank. Going from a 5 gallon to a seamless 4 gallon so for now the tank is zip ties on haha. Also waiting on 1/4" lines so the manifold is where it's at for now.
Another small update. Replaced both rear lines and the rf line yesterday. Rerouted the harness and lines and mounted everything correctly. Seamless tank not here still so I just went ahead and mounted my 5 gallon to reclaim my trunk.
Naturally the line didn't fix the leak. Replaced the fitting nothing. Replaced the entire lead line. Still nothing. So at 9 at night I bit the bullet and took the entire strut apart. Found one of the o-rings was worn and leaked. Luckily I had o-rings in my work truck. Took awhile to get it to stop but at last there's no leaks!
And finally the lamin-x came in. It looks like shit but hopefully it'll be better in the next few days.
Found a different guy to roll and pull. Same guy that's going to powder coat the wheels. He does work for memory fab and seems like he would rather have good work out rather than forcing fitment into cars like some guys want. Pretty reasonable prices too.
It was was the first time I had the wheels test fitted. Found my tires are the wrong size to run on a awd and are too wide to fully air out. I'm stuck with one tire manufacturer on the rear so that makes searching easier. Hopefully it'll all fit right.
By any chance you installed your height sensors yet?
I'm thinking it'll take me a couple of days to do it and I've been working a lot lately so not yet. I ran the lines already tho.
So so over the weekend I had the chance to move around the lips and faces. I got it at x9/x10. The front are tucked but has a tiny contact on the lip face. The rear lip rim is touching and even with the quarter so I can't air that all the way out. Hopefully more pull this weekend.
Alright. It's been slow going but it's going. When I moved around the barrels and faces and had them fitted to where I can air out, the paint cracked. Not happy about it but I couldn't expect any less when I wanted such a low offset 10" wide in the back.
yea so I'm working to have that fixed and the rear bumper. Just gotta get the wife on the program. Maybe high radius and wide wheels next year.
finally took the wheels apart and sent them out to get coated. I think I got a great price. I'll also be sending out the bolts and get them coated. Still can't decide on what Color to coat the seamless 4 gallon tank.
So not much updates. Had a little get together last week with the team. Cleaned the car a little and took some photos.
Oh. One update on the wheels tho. The first color combo for the lips I chose didn't work with the lips. They started gassing pretty bad so I had to change the color pretty quick so I reverted to the original idea of bronze. He shot one lip and it turned out pretty alright. Hoping it goes well with the face color I chose.

i have a feeling the color combo will be a love it or hate it type. i also went with magnesium blue on the formerly gold bolts. i didnt buy the bolts new since theyre stupid expensive from weds and apparently theyre the only ones that make those type of bolts.
so this is going slow for sure. i still need to buy tpms straps and possibly tpms sensors if the sensors i have in the garage wont work.
now, i know that im running a staggered setup on a front biased awd and its silly but hey, its all i have. now im thinking of the needed tire sizes to run.
options:
225/35 front 245/35 rear = around %2 difference / known fitment as i ran this with the tlx and fitted the tires on the rl when quarter where pulled
215/40 front 245/35 rear = around %.07 difference / rear is known fitment but dont know how the front would look like (expensive option as 215/40 only pirelli makes for the i8)
225/35 front 235/35 rear = around %1 difference / front is known fitment but dont know how the rears would look
225/35 front 245/30 rear = around %1.5 difference / front is known fitment but dont knwo how the rears would look. tires are getting deep into rubber band territory but is by far the cheapest option
Yep! Sure did. He warned me ahead of time that the edges will do that. Same reason why I couldn't go with the matching color for the lips since the entire lip was doing it. Some of them went away but some are still there. Luckily not on the face but just around the edges. Enough that it's a looker from passing. Entry level wheels anyway
Top tip. Don't leave your wheels outside if you live close to the ocean lol.
Yep. It was media blasted and cooked for a good while. He sent me updates in each step he did. Salt water basically sat on the wheels for months without cleaning that's why the gassing is on the edge. Live and learn I guess.
And I am assuming to completely remove the salt water they needed to remove some material?

so I bought the wheels already refinished but they were painted. When he blasted the face there was some chrome left on the edges. No material was taken off. Just the media blast and prep for a 2 stage shoot.
The diamond cut from the previous refinishing shows through and looks like it's brushed. I kinda like it.

The tpms sensors I had didn't work. Gotta buy different ones. Rear tires too fat and contacts rear bumper when aired out. Have to get a different size tire. I went with 226/35 245/35. Prob going 23/5/35 on the rear or really go into stretch territory at 235/30 or maybe just 225/35.
Anyhow. We hosted a memorial meet this past Sunday for one of the founders who past last year.

so yea. this is still going. super slow now after the baby and all. since the new job, they gave me a service truck that i drive everyday and home. basically a rolling toolbox with a crane. i rarely drive any of the cars now. even got rid of the tlx and scooped a mdx for the wife and the baby.
i had started a really small business / side gig of vinyl decal making and htv shirts. still learning and shit.
i was going to bring the car to wekfest long beach a few months back but the shop that did the mounting and alignment was a huge mistake. they parked it in front of the shop and hit the curb pretty gnarly. i had to say something for them to basically do the alignment for free. anyway it started leaking through the seal for some reason and after months of just sitting on them being pissed off, i decided i should just do it, it wont fix itself i guess. i broke them down again and found that when the shop hit the curb it lifted the powder coat on the matting surface. the prep was lacking and right after the matting surface it was pretty much just overspray powdercoat. i cut and cleaned all around the matting surface and made sure everything was clean and nothing will move. had to bring it to work to keep working at them since after coming hoe o dont have any time to work on them.
guys, i can tell you putting on the lamin-x protector was such a excellent investment. since ive only driven the car from the street to the driveway to change the oil, its been sitting outside. it had layers of dirt, grim, sand and shit thats hard af to get off. the protector has saved my jdm lights from getting screwed up.
so while were on the light subject, i finally pulled the tigger on retrofits. well im starting with the foglights. i have a set of matchbox from trs coming in. i opted for the switchback halo on them so ill be putting those on the fogilght. the lens on them are super pitted and junk. ive been thinking of making a clear lens for them. i went with 5500k bulbs and have some yellow lamin-x laying around to put on. maybe ill try to clean the lenses. i dont know. well see. BUT! i did something ive been wanting to do. cracked open the oem headlights! im in the planning stages of it still. i also need to make a lhd deflector for the jdm lights anyway so yea. anyway i have some tsx-r clear lens' that im planning to put on the low beam. the high beam on the other hand, the space is stupid small. i tried to see if a mini h1 6.0 would fit but those are even too big. ill wait and see if the matchboxes will fit.
so for now the plan is running quads.
stock low beam on clear lens
matchbox on the other with high beam, perimeter halo and front halo
inner halo on the low beam with semi circle outer halo
demon eyes on all projectors, maybe the foglight too.
sequential switchback led at the bottom
thats it. i still have to figure out what i need to do with the side of the headlight.
Got my dude to mount the tires. I’ll check tomorrow to see if any of them leak.
I’m pretty stoked to gets started on the headlights. I’m going to open up the projector tomorrow and install the clear lens and plan out how to mount the halos.
