Gets a modest raise (and not "modest" but, like, "not a lot" definition of modest) and goes out to lease a preowned BMW.
When discussing the idea of taking the difference between old and new paychecks and putting it into savings until he could actually afford a new car, he said, to paraphrase: "Ninja, what the fuck is savings?"

But really- I remember reading (yes, I can read ) an article about the difference between rich people and average people.
Rich people, if they come into $1000, will take the money and invest it, thereby making even more money.
Average people, if they come into $1000, will spend it because YOLO.
And then these average people complain about the 1%ers. Granted, not everyone can be a 1%er, but they can always improve their situation and make it up the ladder. They might not have 100 million by the time they retire, but they can at least have a very very comfortable retirement, which most of society struggles with acheiving or even getting remotely close to. It's the exact same here.

People talking about working until 70 here now... Dafuq... Why didn't you save from 30-60, so that you aren't working until you're dead?
Granted, at 60ish, I'll still be working. Not any of this career bullshit. I'll be done with that. I'll be doing shit for fun, to fill my schedule, not to make ends meet. Do something fun like wax/tune skis and snowboards. Or sell guitars. Or work at a pot shop when it's legal
