Yes...but our idea of "broke" is probably not the same as the majority of L'Amerique...
If I have 1000 dollars...I would not buy a 1000 thing. I would not put a 1000 thing on a credit card.
I would not even buy a 100 thing if all I had was 1000 doll hairs.
I'm obviously not cheap, just frugal...yeah, that's it!

went by my boss' crib yesterday to weld up that cracked cat for the S2000...
took him for a spin in the Caddy...he's like, man, I've been in some old cars that were suped up...but never in a new car that felt as fast. This thing is badass
He's like, how the fk did you not mind spending that much money on a car...
I was like, relative bro...plus, both my other cars were paid, so play money makes it easier to make those kinda bold moves.

My post disappeared.. wtf..
anyways..
I'm trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cents
It's hard to be legit and still pay the rent
And in the end it seems I'm heading for the pen
I try to find my friends, but they're blowing in the wind
While the rich kids is driving Benz
I'm still trying to hold on to surviving friends
anyways..

Honestly, my biggest claim to fame would have been back when I was going through my foreclosure and I had some "funds"...back when I first got to drive that S5 that would have solidified booty buddy status with Chad...buddy's buyout on his lease was $48K...
decided that wasn't prudent...bought a cheap S2000 instead then saved up enough to be able to get into a better financial situation later. Shiett...wedding too...having just done the courthouse thing allowed us to close on a house with a lot of cash out of pocket for down payment only 2 months later.

If we're quoting rap for posterity...
I keep seeing this line when I consider buying wheels...
30 Something
Jay Z
You ain't got enough stamps in your passport to fuck with young H-O
International,
Show y'all young boys how to do this thing
The maturation of Jay-Z, Z
Check me out
30's the new twenty, nigga
I'm so hot still
Better broad, better automobile
Bet a yard, nah, bet a hundred mill
Then by the songs end, I probably start another trend
I know everything you wan do
I did all that by the age of twenty-one
By twenty-two I had that brand new Ack Coupe
I guess you can say that my legend just begun
I'm young enough to know the right car to buy
Yet grown enough not to put rims on it
I got that six-deuce with curtains so you can't see me
And I didn't even have to put tints on it
I don't got the bright watch, I got the right watch
I don't… Full lyrics on Google Play Music

always bet on black.
know when to hold em, know when to fold em.
if you can't get out in 60 seconds, walk away...
all the best money advice
for real though, if you can't get out of an automotive "investment" your best bet is to skip it...never overextend yourself...be patient...give yourself time to see if you just kinda want something or you must have it...if you know something is gonna be purchased one day no matter what, when a great deal pops up, you strike while the iron is hot.
More or less all that.

So we're sitting around this room the day after the layoff (which happened on a Wednesday I think), like 20-30 people, going around talking about what we're thinking about for the near term, any prospects, and when we need to get back into a job.
That's when I realized that a lot of folks are *way* over extended. There was a lot of, "need a job pretty soon", some "okay for a few months", but one dude was like: "I need a job like next Monday. I've been working OT just to make payments on my house and my truck and my boat and..."
And I just sat there like:
"I'm good for like a year or more... I'm just gonna take a little unemploycation and teach myself how to bake bread."
Everyone thought I was joking... But I took like 6 months off and learned how to bake bread. Probably the best layoff ever.
