Beefy Tire Setups, Show Us What You've Got!

Thanks. Honestly, I think that I will still eventually go to a wider set up. Probably because the wheels that I want are 18x9.5 with a +38 offset. I don't mind running a -2 in the rear. With my old car I ran a -2 F&R and it didn't bother me. The front fenders I don't mind rolling. The rears I will make it work somehow with alignment. Do you have a camber kit on your car, and which one are you running?
I have the SPC camber adjustments for the rear. My goal is to get camber adjustments for the front, run -2° all the way around, and an 18 x 10 +50 with a 285/30. IMO that's as far as it can go without hysterics.

The front fenders just have a tab that needs to be removed, it's the front of the rear quarters that is so bothersome, and needs to be rolled.

Are you going to have to pull fenders to be able to fit that? +50 doesn't sound like you have to though. How much space will you have in the inner part of the wheel? And I'm glad it seems like you're running a square fitment all the way around. Not a fan of staggered unless your car is RWD.

Absolutely square, staggered on a FWD car is FTL, as bad as running 225's on 10" wheels with -6° camber. Fail.

Really? Nice. I wish I were brave enough to run 18x10. But I can't afford the tires. Too much for me. Staggared on FWD is fine if you're wider in front and smaller in the rear. That's the only way. 225's on 10" is pretty ugly. And that much camber is painful. I'm happy with my setup for now. I read earlier that you don't like Federal tires? What are you comparing to?

I like grippy tires, and the Federals just don't give that for long. They're worse than RT 615's, and those are pretty bad.

I actually meant to write 10.5. If you do the math, it's mostly on the inside. In fact, the 285 will only be outboard 3mm from where I am now, so I won't *need* to do anything at all, but I'm thinking I'll still have to work the camber a bit. From -1.5° to -2° should do nicely. The problem is the turning, as the wheel will be 22mm closer to the strut. I have the room with my BC Racing N/A coil-overs, but the turning will be a small issue. I'm not worried about it though.

Which Federals were you on? I had Federal 595 SS which I was pretty happy with. I didn't track the car so it didn't bother me. It was pretty good for the occasional mountain/canyon run. I know they aren't that great, but for the price... They will do. The tires I have now are pretty crappy. Haha. But they came with the wheels. It was actually a CL win.

I didn't buy them, I just drove on them. The 595's. They are fine when they're new, but just like all cheap tires, that peak performance doesn't last long. You'll have to forgive me, I'm a tire snob, ever since I got my first set of great tires I just couldn't go back, so my standards are very high in that regard.

They ride too rough for my taste. I don't understand these companies that make race-spec rates for luxury cars, I mean, really? I have some softer springs they gave me to install, just haven't installed them yet. Hopefully they'll be much better when that happens.

I get you on the tire game. That's a huge part of performance. If I could afford a $200+ tire I would, but sadly I cannot. So I need to keep it on the cheaper side. It's really just price range I have to go off of. Because I would go Yokohama Advan Neova for street if I could. Just living by my means I guess. Haha. I see you fancy with your Lotus.

that is some car right there.. I like the pic you have with the slicks stacked up beside it!!
on topic, Im getting a roll next weekend on the front and rears. Im going to try 15mm and 20mm spacers F/R. Hopefully I dont have to go below -3 in the rear and -1 or -1.5 in the front. Im going to stick with the 235's.. I know you hate that andrew lol, but i like to be low.
Dont get me wrong I LOVE the wide tire/beefy look but I think with this car where I'm going for the conservative stretched/camber look.
If I had a RWD car id be throwing 10'' or 10.5'' wide wheels with 305 series lol

no lol. but that does look great.
this is where I'm at with it now. Id like to go a hair lower. I have a STi lip for the front so once thats on it might look lower so ill probably just drop the rear down a hair.

Love those wheels. Too baller for me. But I'm with VisualE, I don't like my cars too low either. Even my RSX was "too high" for fellow forum users on ClubRSX. But to each their own. Your car looks great regardless Sickest.

Those were the original wheels I wanted for my TL, but I simply can't afford to spend so much on my daily when I already have a toy car. In the end I decided on something with a classy look that didn't break the bank.

^nice! My wheels are Advan RZ.. for the longest time I thought they were the RSII until I looked at the back stamp on the wheel, theyre very similar. I like the waffles too but I wanted something top notch lol.
And yes that RSX is very nice, just a tad too high for my taste but great looking nonetheless. I see you didnt have centre caps either.. It bugs me that I dont have any, looks weird.. but fuck theyre so pricey haha

And as for the RSX, I was planning to track the car. So I didn't want to go to low. Especially with those specs of wheels and tires. I wanted to go down maybe to 1 finger gap, but I never did. I ended up selling the car before anything else. I do miss it though.

yea I love those rsx's
yes they are the 18x9 but with the +45 offset which is what is giving me issues right now. Took weak. Gotta get them fenders rolled and spacers

I got a quick question about rims I am considering purchasing.
I know our bolt pattern is 5x114.3 but when it comes to offset I am not sure what will work.
I have a stock suspension just fyi.
Was wondering if wheels with a 24 offset will work?
I'm looking at these: Saleen Wheels 18x9 Hyper Black

they'll fit if you dont plan on dropping the car, but they will look really weird and probably poke out as well.. heres my car not dropped with my advans. looks like a god damn SUV lol
#309
lol yeah no kidding, so if I wanted to drop the car, how much of a drop cold I go for?
I have no idea about how offset affects suspension or anything suspension related for that matter lol
Thanks for the pic as a reference, I swear my car sits lower than that though.....

Your car prob does sit a lil lower than that if you got 17s on it with stock suspension
just drop it until you start rubbing then raise it a hair above that
you should check out the fitment thread

If you're seriously considering lowering, I would probably lower first. After that you can start weighing out what wheels will fit. But a 18x9 +24 will only work with fender work and stretched tires. If you see my car above, I'm running a 18x9 +38 and it's already fairly close to the fender. The rear maybe able to fit it, but the fronts will probably have issues.

2006 RBP crew checking in! Haha. Man, it looks like you raised the car in this picture... Like higher than stock.

I feel you. For me, I dropped it first. Drove it with stock wheels for about a week, got an alignment then swapped wheels.
#318
I think you need to drop it more
Anything below 15mm spacer scares me as the dont have the extended studs. Im assuming a 15mm on those would make them poke out a lot?

And yeah, I'm scared to run spacers, but I want to kick out a little bit. I have a 7mm spacer that I will test fit. If I don't have enough thread on the stud, I will bail on that idea. Trail and error I guess. I just don't want anything failing on me.
