You can fit a 20" by 15" wide wheel if you wanted to. It just depends on how much work and money you want to put in to make it fit.
You've already been told, you're going with an aggressive size and will likely have to do some modifications. Your car on stock ride height and 20" rims will look kind of dumb. It's called being a baller on a budget, and it simply won't look good with the size of fender gap your car has, stock.
If you're going to lower it, you will have issues, one way or another. Can you get around them? Likely yes.
Most people on here don't use such big wheels. You lose a lot of power (more weight for the engine to turn), you lose comfort (rubber band thick tires are not exactly forgiving), you get worse fuel economy (again, more for the engine to spin), etc., etc., etc.

I'd lose the idea of putting adapters and stuff just so as i can see wider tires. an upgrade to 19 will fit if i recall correctly.

I'm going to put the car on a air ride suspension within the next few months but I do one thing at a time and make it perfect. I've got money to spare but I don't know a lot of people that have fifteen Grand to drop to do it all at one time. I have to maintain reliable transportation to work. I'm going to throw the rims on and fix whatever problems I encounter and then I will get the air ride suspension system that has the active adjustable ride height with different levels for show stance riding stance and also allows you to raise the car above om ride height to clear tough areas. That is something to come down the line. As far as performance if I wanted to be racing around I sure as heck wouldn't be dumping a bunch of money into a big car like this now that I know how limited the aftermarket is. I realize that it makes more sense to improve the exterior and keep the engine Limited to maybe an intake and an ECU tune with the flex fuel and investing money into a different car that has more performance potential. I'm going to just see what the line Looks like with the twenties on it and go from there and make my adjustments as they come.

A tape measure, a pencil, some scratch paper, and a basic HS knowledge of geometry and algebra would go a long way towards answering your questions.
It's hard for randos on the internet to answer your specific questions without a better understanding of the full picture. Anything can be done (even a RB26 into a FWD car) with enough time and money. You can absolutely fit 20x10s on your car. It's just a matter of how much youre willing to spend.
I'm doubtful that setup from the BMW will work on your car buy I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

They fit very well. Definitely going to have to put a air ride suspension on to make it sit a little prettier but as far as the rim without a tire, great fit. Didn't get a chance to snap a picture because it was so dark by the time I got to the man's house but I got him waiting and I will be getting the tires within the next day or two and mounting them

After that, A spec kit and then I'm going to do an Accuair adjustible air ride suspension. They have an excellent active air suspension the automatically adjusts to road conditions and weight of the moving vehichle.

Yeah I've looked at his car alot. ..I think he's got 20x10.5 square stanced. I want to go for the same type of look, but I want to make sure the ride quality is as good as possible

I would do a lot of research picking a company for bags. I wanted accuair for a while. They were leading the game. Now most people are swapping their accuair set up for airlift because accuair uses a pressurized system that has been knowm to see voltage spikes which result in a corner or side airing out while driving. Scary shit. Airlift uses height based sensors i guess is the difference. Not sure i need to research more as well. I saw this recently whem VIPd Outs Genesis ate through a tire when the corner aired out on a freeway due to a voltage spike. Many people commented abouy similar situations and auggeated they go airlift. They said they were going to do so.

Yep. Also consider the company BecauseBags. They are here in cali but they make great trunk brackets for any car to mount on the floor, side, or top underside of the trunk amd sell them with kits at good prices. They mainly deal with airlift as well. They could probably be your one stop shop to buy the parts then a local shop could do the work.

If I'm not mistaken, there isn't a company that makes bags designed for the RL and everyone to date has had to either trim stock parts or manufacture replacement parts to get bags to fit. If there is anyone with a designed system, there is only one.

You need a 285/30R20 in the rear to be within 0.07% of the size in the front.
