meaty - just donate the car to charity and get the $500 tax deduction... your rolling shell isn't really attractive to anyone unless they plan to strip the car for parts (but it's not like you have something rare)... camry's are a dime a dozen so any sentimental value you have for the car goes out the window along with you...
if you get lucky and find a buyer to come tow that thing away, it would be someone with the exact same car and body color that might want the fenders, bumpers or interior... unless i got the car for free, i would not shell out $500 to put in a $500 used motor and gamble that is the only thing that needs to be replaced...

But he loves the car....dont you read his 8 thousand posts about it and how he took her to prom and popped his cherry with her?? he still has the burn mark from when he forgot to let the exhaust cool a bit to remind him of that night.
if you arent going to contribute something useful, you shouldnt be on this thread....

It's a 5s-Fe Camry, 2001 is its best year!!!
My point is, anyone who came near it wanted it, like a shark wants prey!!!
Just because it needs an engine, which would be super cheap and easy to find, doesn't mean it's junk!!!
Heck, I've seen beater Camrys, wheels mismatched, broken door handles, bent fenders, faded paint all over selling for $3,000 still, with 250,000+ miles....
A $500 engine swap by a backyard mechanic, and it could easily go for $4-5,500...
I even see these go for $8,000 still... There's thousands of people who would take it right now, it's just a matter of my process... First, I'm starting with a target buyer...

According to many, starting in 2002, the Camry became "deposable"...
It may be slow, but it's cable driven, so it always downshifts, every time, then screams away, it's still a lot of fun...
In fact, my only real complaint with these Camrys is that they're mushy...
They wallow and sway back and forth with road imperfections, and any slight overcorection will make it fishtail, so to speak!!!
The new Camrys handle MUCH better, but these feel more like a Lexus...
Really, they're amazing sedans for what they are, and probobly one of the next looking sedans ever, if they're lowered!!!

cause his 'many' friends (righty and lefty) told him this...
take it for what it is mystery meat... Camry was never meant to be fast with BMW handling... it's an economic box of a sedan that will run forever if you don't starve it of oil... the 5s is a known oil burner... as long as you check the oil like you are supposed to, the bearings would have never toasted itself and the motor would still be running...
