Midnight Mystery - Birthdays, Builtdays, Anniversaries, and a Broken Heart!!!

Ok, I'm here to talk about my non-Acura rides...

This is kind of a blog-ish thread...

This was taken one year ago today, June 2015... I haven't driven it anywhere sine March 2015, and haven't started it sine early May 2015...

June 6, 2006 - Current

(Doesn't Run as of March 14, 2015)

2001 Toyota Camry LE 2.2 Auto

Lunar Mist silver, Gray leather, sunroof/moonroof, 15" alloys (stock), and a rear spoiler...

2007 Kia Sportage

Taken summer 2014...

November 2008 - February 2016

Totalled...

(That's why I'm now on the forum, get it?)

2007 Kia Sportage LX 2.0 Auto

Champagne Metallic, Biege cloth, 16" alloys (stock), other than that, basic nothing...

I dedicate this post to those vehicles as this is the 10th anniversary of getting the 2001 Toyota Camry - Yesterday, 6/6

Today, 6/7 - 2007 (Kia Sportage was manufactured nine years ago (6/7/07) in Souel, Korea...

2001 Toyota Canry was manufactured 6/13/2001 - So next Monday... 15 years old!!!

I can't drive it because it started knocking in March 2015, on the way to my sisters wedding and I was in a tux!!!

Speaking of my sister, she just had a baby boy June 2, 2016...

8lbs, 21" long... She and her husband are very happy...

She even had him on the due date, when does that ever happen!!!

If you're a good person don't bother reading the next part, but I know you all will anyway!!!

I'm NOT TROLLING!!!

I'm trying not to sound disorganized in my thoughts as I have a tendency to do when typing about my own life expiriances, so please don't post a bunch of BS about how I worded something wrong...

No, the Kia... Pretty sure you commented on that weird thread I posted a few months ago when I was still kinda hysterical about it... I'm always going to be upset with those circumstances though...

Anyway, if you want the Camry, let me know...

Insurance is just stupid, already lost $1,300 just sitting in the yard and now damn city code guy is starting sh*t, all of my Kia stuff, which was filled with tools, bulbs, LEDs, HID ballast, intake parts are being stored on the Camry right now...

No, I want it to go to a good home to someone who I trust, and not someone who will take it to Mexico...

That, and I want an Accord instead... Camry handles worse than a 2003 Yukon I drove last month...

Scotty Kilmer didn't warn us about using too much ATP-205 RE-SEAL... Long story short, blew the engine...

The Oil to Re-Seal ratio was off, way off...

I loved the camry!!!! OMG!
That was honestly, always my dream car. I settled for the TL because it was a family person that had it and I bought it from them but I always wanted the camry. It says that you're reasonable and like good gas mileage etc, right? I love that.

My sister had a Lexus RX that was her dream car which lesux is the also toyota. she had a baby too! well (me too, had one too). sux cause she sold the rx when she moved to the europe so now she's back in a honda but she likes it a lot too and it's nice.

Either way, I am subdscrideb to this thread to see updates. I hope you find a good home for the car, for sure...mexico is no place for a nice car!

now, the kia sport utesitliy vehicle i dont really see the allure unless its from sentminntesal value. I had a kite one time in my youth and everyone said it was so ugly (it was spray painted black, which made it fly weird cause the weight of the paint) but since i had it from when i was only 5 years old i still flew it cause it was literally my favorite. now that i'm older I probaby can see that a painted black kite was kinda ugly. especially having had more better kites since i'm older and have more dispenserble income.

Anyway, glad it's all going well with the new acura (other than the hood, how is the plastidip holding up btw)? I love the RDX.

I wanted a 4 gen Camry since I was about 4, yeah, 4...

Really clean looking design...

Totally sleek, no bubble roof...

Anyway, it's slow, kickdowns easily though, not great mpg for the power, 0-60 in 11-13 seconds and only 18 mpg...

Oh well, still a great car...

Needs some other work though...

Anyway, the Kia handles pretty well, it's quite punchy for being slow 0-60 in 9.5-11...

It's been complemented though and it's better than everything else in that category other than CR-V, it even only had rims, no hubcaps or steelies offered...

Burns some gas, but not like the RDX...

Hopefully getting a hood wrap quote today... Carbon fiber...

What kind of a Kia was it, and what year Camry?

Mine was January 25, well 26 as it was 12:45 am...

He was coming off the interstate, and pulled out when another light turned green... Well, he just let off the brake and coasted... It wasn't a hard hit, maybe 25 mph, airbags didn't deploy...

He was driving a rental 2016 Nissan Altima...

I wasn't driving though, but we T-Boned him, well, his front wheel...

The other night I heard a 2006-2010-ish Hyundai Elantra start up (same engine), I turned around really quick and looked, I'd know that sound anywhere!!!

About the hood wrap,
I need to get the number, I emailed them to no repose...

I hope they can do it in Mississippi as the prices are much better, not to mention tax is 3% lower...

I will probably make an appointment for the end of July, the Plasti-Dip is holding up well, but I have t washed it yet...

If I can't get it off, I'm using duck tape!!!

I was kinda upset with how dark they were at first, but I like how the red gets a deep grey/black look to it...

They actually were really bad, the drivers side came half way off and I had to completely redo that light... The high mount came out really nice, but from the side, it was all wrinkled...

They make it look so easy on YouTube...

Next time, I'm having it done somewhere endless the light is completely flat...

MysteryMeat - With a large flat surface like the hood, you can easily do the wrap yourself.

Buy some 3M Dinoc and get 'er done.

Thought about that, but it would wrinkle and look bad, I'd likely stretch the pattern so it would look weird...

Got a quote today, really good deal...
$120-180, takes two hours, and he has three colors, and can make an appointment with up to three days notice...

It's just worth it to me...

I also want to have my dogs redone as they look like crap up close... Everyone loves them in the pictures....

Maybe even a light smoke over the tails, lighter than the Kia had them...

I only have three or four other little mods to do, and that's it...
But they're more expensive so I'm holding off...

It's an RDX that will turn 10 in September, it's got a ton of small dings and scratches but the color covers it well...

It's got a steering pump and rack leaking that will cost about $1,900 to fix and I'm not loosing fluid so it just makes a loud humming sound...

Rotors are warped...

Drivers headlight leaks a little...

One of the screw covers in the high mount (top brake light) is missing, need that...

I cannot be without a vehicle for 3-5 days as I have been in the past because the Camry is shot on par of bad repair advice...

I know how to do things right...

I really just don't care on a vehicle that would just look worse as the hood would look better than the rest of the paint...

It would be even worse as the front bumper cover isn't snapped on correctly and is crooked on the drivers side because it was wrecked in January 2010 by the lady who used to own it...

Carbon fiber will look sharp in a way... And it will help displace the yellow fogs and Vtec decals...

It's supposed to be clean, with a touch of rice...

I was better at one point, I had an old Lexus look almost brand new, but that was 2014... It's now 2016, and I can't deal with it anymore...

So two hours and $150-ish to get it looking nice again, and only take two hours max, good deal...

I see what you mean, it's just not an option right now...

I've had many people say it's not a big deal, even the technicians and service writer didn't encourage us to take immediate action, so it's not anything but a nascence...

No items showing on MID, just oil life 50%, which I just changed five weeks ago.... It's going to hit 40% any time now...

Everything else works, 179,480 as it sits... Almost new Michelin Duelers H/L tires...

New brake pads, rotors are just crap as on most Hondas...

I had to lock them up at 60- ish back in April... I forgot the road I was on, though I got on the main road, which looks identical when driving...

I've gotten lost in that damn road before (April 2015, ended up 20 miles south, didn't have Nav back then, and the phone went dead, so I couldn't get a picture of hitting 68,000 miles in the Kia)... Last time it just ended on me (there's a turn and it ends right after) but the vibration went down significantly after...

I now know stopping can be just as fun as accelerating... And I also learned that hard braking improves pedal feel in Hondas, maybe it heated the rotors enough to smooth them out a bit...

Oh well, stay off that road, lesson learned again...

Well in that case, how about going the $Free-fiddy route? Just sand off all the paint on the hood, and let it get some surface rust. Then give it a quick wipe down with some used motor oil.

Take that $200 you would have spent of vinyl application and use it on something better?

I gathered some Google images of other modified vehicles in other forums to show you what I like... Even some of this is a bit "too much" though...

we're talking about the lack of money in a 19 year olds bank account, and the lack of good decision making skills, also attributed to said 19 year old.

Wait. Who am I kidding. It should say "all 19 year olds"

I'm 29 and some of that still applies to me.

My iPhone won't load pictures past 10%... It's done this before...

Just google modified Camry or Accord and look at the clean looking ones, that's what I'm talking about...

But I have to have a vinyl wrapped hood...

But everyone told me to do this just three weeks ago...

I just had to get that covered while I was still in the Barn...

27 here, same applies to me too.

Although, I don't put vinyl wraps on 10 year old Kia SUVs .. so I got that going for me, which is nice.

I'm far from ordinary, the youngest person I've really had a conversation with has been my sister, who is 29...

No, I'm not stupid, I'm just kinda goofy with finding shortcuts...

My grandfather used a paintbrush to clean the dust off of his Yukon, so I did the same...

I'm just kinda goofy these days...

I gave up on being perfect...

I'm not half assed either... When I work, I try, I'm just salty at this point...
