Trunk re-painting DISASTER
#41
My thought is that he delegated it off to a "rookie" to do a simple job so he can paint something else and save time...
My grandfather has a buddy who has a transmission shop that also does basic maintenance, his son or grandson or someone like that was doing the oil changes, you know, cheap, easy, idiot proof work... Well, the boy wasn't using the Motorcraft filters he was furnishing and he also forgot to fill the oil once, luckily the truck was ok...
Maybe he's trusting a bad employee too much, that or he can't install emblems well...
Either way, it sounds like he's handling it correctly, and getting new emblems is always a good idea... I see them as a one time use only thing...
I've seen countless body shops do this, however this may be the worst...
In fact, a few months ago, I saw an Accord (03-07) with Walmart brand stuck on chrome letters imposing as OEM, funny as all hell though!!!
At least it ultimately isn't that big of a deal...

I actually have two sets of the Acura badging the sh all wheel drive badging an the RL badging so I can always put it on. If anyone needs an extra Acura URL or sh-awd badge, I'm selling the extra set I have

Good call. Honestly, if you care for my input. I'd send the second set you have off to be refinished with maybe a super dark chrome. If they come back looking titties Id sent the A badge off for the same thing and rock the A with the RL and SHAWD in a nice black chrome. Or normal chrome. Either way I like badging but no need for the big Acura logo. My ILX for example doesnt even come with the big ACURA lettering. Just the big A/caliper and ILX. The aspecs can have an aspec badge but still not ACURA lettering.

Yeah I did not want him to put them on crooked so I figured it looks better without them and I'll avoid them going on wrong. ..and I can always do it myself

It literally is a challenge to put them on crooked, if you are using OEM badges. As pointed out, it's a quick and easy job if you use the right parts. They come with a template to install them correctly. Your guy used some made-in-buttfuck-nowhere, aftermarket junk on your car.

looked like he just re-used the old letters after painting put put them on one at a time and not space correctly because the weren't on transfer tape. Also looks like the U and C were swapped in AUCRA.
In retrospect, it would have been cool to have the body guy shave the A badge holes before paint so the whole trunk could be smooth and clean.
But looks pretty okay.
