2018 TLX Spy Shots
The question then is why hide the non-production headlights behind camo? Only reason I could imagine is convenience in making the camo.

I would go for a +18 TLX if the finish project can look like this or you can configure a "sportier" version compared to the brochure luxo-snooze image. Unfortunately, I think this just a photoshopped guess-i-mation from AcuraConnected.com

It was pretty bad 3-4 years ago when we used to make fun of the beaks on the 4G, but now here we are in 2016 comparing Acura's latest offering to a Crown Vic. Does this downward spiral ever come to an end? lol
Acura's motto must be "they'll finally appreciate this one if we make the new one uglier".

Visually when I look at the above picture the heavy trim around the front & the big shield just accentuate to nose heavy FWD look that has been hard to hide since G4. Think this has always been a styling issue with Acura.
Acura's reliability is better than MB. A fully loaded MDX is almost $70K CDN and a fully loaded GLE is probably $80K. Not a huge price difference between the two cars. It's not like he was comparing MB to Kia...
I wasn't a fan until I had seen the new grill on the MDX in person. It gives the car a very aggressive look. The shield and logo are big but they seem just fine. People hated the shield so Acura changed it, now they hate the new one. They can't win with some people. The new grill might not be for some but I think it will please many.
While they are both big, the 3 point star seems floating. The A meanwhile, is slapped on a base that makes it look bigger and potruding
But the MDX is meant to compete with the GLS, not the GLE....
I bet it is so big because they put the nanny sensors behind it. I'm not sure this is an improvement over the shield. I think they just got the shield right and now they replace it with this. Have to see it in person.
Why is it so hard for Acura to get big grilles right? Other brands with have no problem hiding their electronic doodads behind em, and still manage to keep it classy. Hell, even the Acura logo is starting to look chintzy now

Oh my gosh, please take this over to the MDX forum if you're going to hate on the new grill. We have no clue the size of the logo on the TLX, it could be substantially smaller than the MDX's. The MDX is their first production car with the new grill, Acura will (hopefully) listen to feedback and address any issues. Yes, the logo is large, but I think it looks better than blending in with everything else on the road.
In my experience, Acura doesn't really listen to anyone. There's been enough times where people were crying "WTF" as loud as possible, and Acura did very little to respond. Sure, they've made minor changes here and there... but anything major? Nope. Don't count on it.
Acura thinks "WTF" means "Wow, That is Fantastic"!

I love the look of the current TLX shield and entire front end. Never had a problem with the Acura grills like everyone else. The only problem with the shield is that it gets dinged up. The shiny shield part can be replaced for about $75, but only to be dinged up again. Also, at this point the less paint on the front, the better. My Bellanova White Pearl with undrilled license plate holes and a lot of surface area is also getting dinged up. I don't tailgate or drive behind trucks. So the 2018 large grill & less front bumper paint may be more practical, even if it's uglier.
I agree- the renderings do look great. Let's hope that's what the car will actually look like.
At the risk of beating a dead horse here - I was at the dealership getting my oil changed and wandered around the lot for a bit. My initial thinking on the logo (from the pictures here) was that it looked pretty nice - and all the banter here was silly internet silliness.
However - seeing an MDX (right - not a TLX) with the new logo live and in person made me think "Holy cow - it's way too big" - even for a large vehicle like the MDX.
It'd be nice if the Acura logo could be removed, to give the grill that nice, clean look. But if Acura crammed all the sensors behind there for the driving nannies, I don't see that happening. I have a feeling that the grill pattern doesn't continue behind the badge either.

Thanks for that comparison. I'll have to reserve my ultimate opinion on the MDX logo until I see one in person but with that side by side shot, I am digging the new look.
I like it too - in pictures. In person I'd say the logo is about 1/3 too big. It's not a deal-breaker (like the Lexus Grill) but it's off. Maybe if it wasn't solid plastic (although that's likely needed to hide the sensors as others have speculated on) it would look better. Regardless - I'm guessing the Logo for the TLX will be smaller.

though that one was a particularly lazy MMC as they didn't even change the rear bumper...
