17x8.5 +30 on stock height

Hello all. I've been searching on the interwebs for a few months now trying to find the right rims for my TL with the brembos. I found some SSR 17x8.5 rims that have a +30 offset, and I really like how they look. My question is: how much poke would there be on the front with this setup on stock suspension? I know the rear will be pretty much flush. I'm planning on running stock tires, if that helps.

no poke, should be close to flush if not tucked a little. Correct me if I am wrong

From the research I've done, stock rims with a 15mm spacer are flush in the front. It's entirely possible my research is wrong, but The rims I'm looking at stick out 20mm more than stock, which is why I'm concerned about poke.

When I bolted on my 9.5 +40 @ stock height I was poking about 5mm in the front (rear was perfectly flush), and you'll be 2.7mm less outboard than I was, so It'll be super close. If your car has a tad bit more camber in the front than mine did (every car is different), or if your struts are a little bit more worn out then you'll be perfect. With a set-up this flush, it's all going to be about your tires.

Thank you all so much for your help! From what you guys have said It looks like the SSR rims will give me the flush look I'm going for. I'm planning on running stock tires, and the rims are 1/2in. wider, so everything will hopefully be perfectly flush!

You should really consider 18s though.

^^ agreed. 17s look ok on the TL, but 18s look GREAT! if you're going to get new wheels, might as well get 18s. makes the car look so much better

I agree that 18's and 19's look a whole lot better. The issue is I'm on a really tight budget, so I was planning on using my stock tires since they're pretty much brand new. If I got bigger rims and tires I'd be spending at least $1,000

The reason I was looking for a second set of rims is I'm going to be getting winter tires soon, since a buddy of mine (who has a TL) said my car will be terrible in the snow. So I'm already spending a chunk of change on the tires, and I wanted to have the new rims before winter. I don't know if I have the patience to save for 18's/19's lol

Your car will not be terrible in the snow if you set it up right. Tires is the biggest part of Winter driving, so get a great set of 225 series 17" dedicated Winter tires and you'll be fine.

GG what state are you in? I agree with VisualEchos, tires make a world of difference in the snow!

I live in maine so we get quite a bit of snow. I know the stock tires are 235/45/17, so is there any advantage of different sizes?

This is correct, the contact patch is longer front-to-back, which produces more forward-motion grip. A 235 will be nearly identical on a TL in most instances, but if heavy snow is a concern, the skinnier the tire, the better the grip, just look at Winter Rally tires for proof.
