Coil-overs, back to the drawing board.

When I bought the car a couple of weeks ago it came with ?Eibach? lowering springs installed. It sits too low, scrapes when I pull into and out of the garage, etc.

Last week I bought a set of TEIN street flex coil-overs. The selling point (for me) is the TEIN EDFC system. Got the shocks/springs off the car, Saturday, and it looks like I'm going to end up with the same or lower ride height... again, too low.

TEIN offers for the 3G TL. excelerateperformance.com shows:
Flex
Ride Height Range (F) -2.7~-0.2in
Ride Height Range (R) -5.2~0.3in

Street Basis
Ride Height Range (F) -2.9~-1.1in
Ride Height Range (R) -2.6~-1in

Street Advance
Ride Height Range (F) -2.9~-1.1in
Ride Height Range (R) -2.6~-1in

So If I'm reading this right, the other two options will be even lower?

$900 for the Street Flex. it's a 30% restocking fee, so I'm not going to take a $300 hit to return them... I'll put them on eBay myself, or sell them to someone here.

Like I said before, I really like the EDFC concept, but it seems like everything that is compatible is just going to sit too low for me to actually drive the car on the street... any advice from someone with experience with the TEIN coilovers?

Maybe I'm missing something... there are two adjustments... one at the bottom that adjusts the length of the whole assembly, and one that compresses/decompresses the springs...?

Adjusting the one at the bottom to max gives me the same length as the original lowered springs.

.... Oooooh, adjusting the top will cause the shocks to extend... damnit. Sometimes you just have to say it out loud.

hold on!
visit youtube to see if you are adjusting it correctly. i'm assuming one adjustment is for preload.
thats very odd that "adjustable coilovers" wont allow you to "extend" to factory height.

the BC coilovers that I have allows me to adjust to factory TL height.

ohh, so you were adjusting it correctly.

the top is for preload and we dont mess with that...
the bottom; twisting the shock body should lower and raise, however....your problem is that its still as short as the shock you replaced....
sorry, had to write it out to comprehend the situation

You rebel.

I work from home... Cranking up some System of a Down this morning... life is good.

BTW, if anyone knows SSIS, UHC is hiring, lemme know and I can get a bonus for referring. It's 100% telecommute, I've never met my boss face to face, they mailed me a computer, etc.

I got those same coils, and they should be able to get you to OEM height and you can put them so low that you can't drive the car lol. I installed them right out of the box and my car was dumped lol

Crossing my fingers, I don't think I want to go all the way up to stock height, but I need it to be higher than it is.

Do you have to get an alignment done every time you adjust the height? Looks like I might have to do some trial and error to get the height just right.

yes, any time your lower or heighten the car an alignment is needed. just mess with the height for a bit, and get it to where you like it, then get an alignment.

When I did my suspension, I installed tein flex, skunk 2 UCA, and the ingalls and spc rear kits, well when I got it all together and brought the car off jacks my alignment was so fucked up from having everything apart

What all have you done to the suspension?! Is there a thread? Any side view pics of the ride height posted?

Like jefe says, get it to where you like it and THEN get alignment, not every time you go up or down an inch.

Yeah! Looks great. The first few pages it looked really high, then the shocks, and the gradual lowering. Very nice.
