Yea, I've always been a Honda guy since I was a kid, but never had any spare cash to buy any car let alone mods back when I was in school.
I'd imagine there are plenty of 6G Civic hatch out there. Ours started as a 98 DX last summer, The original plan was just to get some decent rims, tires, and suspension. Eventually, we went a bit further with a B20 Vtec swap with a ITR LSD tranny, upgraded to full disc brakes all round, and a 99-00 conversion. We also gutted the interior and removed the power steering, which removed about 200lb.
It's a really fun to drive car. We thought about K series swap too, but then we were worried it would cost quite a bit more, and more complex to execute. Still, it's about 206hp/160lbft at the hub right now, which is quite decent for a car that is about 2100lb.
I read all about the B series back in the days, but now sometimes you really gotta drive it to understand what people are talking about....lol...the throttle response, VTEC change over, front double wishbone suspension...all of these make the car quite a blast to drive on a track. One good thing about the hatch is that, it's able to haul tools and shxt to the track on its own...lol.
If you are thinking about getting one and doing some work on it, then perhaps you don't really need a really clean one? Ours has scratches and dents here and there, but those don't really hinder the driving experience.
Car's at the dealership. Currently fighting tooth and nail with Ford over a bad a transmission and clutch assembly at 18k miles. . If they end up fixing it, I'm going back to stock and getting a Prius.
Recent pics from Spocom Anaheim. Such a fun event and so worth showing your car just for the 4 hours you get before the event opens to the public. It's a mad house once the public roll in.
