Need advice before purchase 2012 Acura TL 4G
Hello everyone, im new here to the forum. I once own a 1998 acura integra in the past. I love the car, never had any trouble with it. I was driving 2013 Scion F-rs 10 series edition until got rear-ended waiting at the red light. The car is now totaled. I been searching around to find the right car for me. This is what i came up with 2012 Acura TL 2WD with Nav 13k miles priced $21,700 older private seller i dont know if i can negotiate price down a little bit more or not, 2014 Honda Accord Ex-L with nav 20k miles priced $23,998 dealership and the priced is set. I like both cars, but im leaning more toward the 2012 Acura TL because to me it seem more luxury, quality and better looking. Now i have been reading up on the airbag recalled issues, i already contacted the local acura dealership. They said they will provide enterprise rental something close to a Acura TL. I want your advice/take on both car, on price, quality, and overall ride experienced. Any suggest on Acura TL would be great. Thank in advance guys.

I would go with the TL. Low miles, 2k cheaper and might be more loaded than the accord. Try to give that person a lower offer and go from there. I love the way mine drives and looks. Just get it checked before you take it if you go that route.

While there is nothing wrong with an Accord if it was me I would buy the TL. Although you're looking at a 2014 Accord, my middle son used to have a 2011 Accord and it couldn't compare to our 2011 TL. It was a good car and I have no complaints it just wasn't on the same level as the TL.
At one point I had a 2015 Accord loaner and while it was lights years ahead of the 2011 Accord in refinement, I think Honda did a great job on it, IMO it still fell short of the TL.
Good luck with your decision and welcome to AZ..

Should i consider looking for a 4WD/AWD acura TL or i can do just fine with 2WD? Im going to use this car as a daily commuter. Here in North Carolina we would get like maybe 3 months out of the year bad icy/snow weather. How the 2WD compared to 4WD/AWD Acura TL? Any advice/suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Personal opinion, but the main attraction point for the TL is SH-AWD.
If you're going FWD I'd honestly get a brand new Honda Accord. Brand new Honda Accord Sport is $25k MSRP, and TrueCar is saying the average paid $22k.
That's a brand new Sport (CVT) with a 3yr/36k warranty. I don't think you can beat that honestly.
If you want AWD though, I think the TL is a solid choice.

The car being sold by private sale sounds like a great buy! Low miles plus most of the service records are there!
I'd honestly recommend the 3.5L FWD version rather than the 3.7L SH-AWD. The SH-AWD is great but the TL is a fantastic car without it. For me the gas penalty of nearly 6 MPG highway was too much. Also the fact that they are burning oil with higher miles scared me away.
FWD will be great in winter provided you have good tires. I highly recommend the Continental DWS06, they can go through a foot of snow and easily perform amazing in dry and wet conditions.

If you don't need AWD then i would go for the Accord. Your insurance premium will probably cost less.
As themuffinman mentions the new Accord Sport, that is a sharp looking car. I would get that with a 6spd. Good mpg.
Take both for a test drive and see which one drives better.

I have a 2014 SH-AWD with the manual transmission.
The reason to get AWD is for performance. It really only makes a significant difference in full throttle or throttle-while-turning situations. (And it is quite fun in those situations)
If you get the FWD you will get noticeably better fuel mileage and a more reliable engine. There seem to be a lot of issues from the 3.7 whereas the 3.5 is bulletproof.

Good Day. Not sure if you bit the bullet and bought the TL you were look at or similar model. I looked at the SH-AWD, however, I bought a 2Wd for the looks, mild yet fun handling and definitely for the gas mileage. The options that come with a Tech version blow away what you get in an Accord. I've had my 2WD for a year now and haven't looked back. Best 2nd owner car I've ever owned and most fun too. Not to forget to mention, lots of abilities to modify if you so choose. Hope this helps.

- Lane change camera
- Honda Sensing
- Navigation
- Rear camera (with actual moving guide lines)
- Heated front & rear seats
- Automatic wipers
- Parking sensors (front and rear)
- Remote Engine Start
- Android Auto/Apple CarPlay
etc
You can't even get half those options on the loaded TL. If you're buying FWD, I'd have gone with the Accord. Literally the only selling point the TL has over it is SH-AWD.

I would go with the Accord sport. It's newer and looks fantastic. Plus it doesn't have airbags in it that have potential metal shards that could blow up in your (or your passengers) face.

I have a 2011 SH-AWD 6 Speed
The wife got a 2015 Honda Accord Touring (Auto Canadian i4). Man I can lie the Accord nice and the 2016 looks real good. If your not getting the AWD TL just get the Accord V6 Touring.
