TSX, Accord or other

My GF crashed in her Honda Fit and broke her humerus. Needles to say she doesnt feel safe in a small car now. I told her she can get a TSX, Accord or mid size suv, CRV, Rav4, etc. I can get her into a new Accord or a used CPO 2014 TSX for about the same price. What are your thoughts on this? Car or SUV.

Ouch! I broke a rib in an accident once, it was not fun.
Anyways, IMO.... New > Used.
As far as which one... I would check the safety ratings. Home | Safercar -- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
I live in Houston where there are a lot of trucks and SUV's so my wife drives a CUV.

If she cares more about tech then the driving experience, then Accord is probably better for her. When I was looking for cars when I bought my TSX I looked at the Accord Sport and EX but didn't care for how either drove. The new 2016s tho are very nice outside and inside. imho better then the TLX.

Given those choices, I'd go for the Accord or CR-V.

I agree, you won't be disappointed. I'm not biased, I swear.....

My mom had a CR-V and it was ok.

If you girlfriend just wants safe, efficient, and probably cell-phone integration then CRV or accord will do (probably lean more towards crv). I almost went accord, but I hate how big it is, which may actually be better for your gf.

Thanks for the input. She doesnt care if its a Acura or Honda, she wants something safer than the Fit. I have had both and I loved the way the TSX drove. I have seen the new Accord and they have come a long way.

The new refreshed accords look nice, but again the body is so big. I went with the TSX because the exterior looks sportier and its smaller. The accord sport to me doesn't offer enough to justify getting one. For this persons gf though, accord all the way.

I know many would rank them like this, but (maybe obviously) it depends on your priorities. I haven't tried a new Accord Sport, but I have driven a TLX with the I4 and 8DCT, and I think the vast majority of drivers would prefer the TLX to the TSX. The TLX is more luxurious, quieter, and smoother, all of which contributes to its major downside IMO, i.e., a less involving driving experience. It still drives well though, and I actually thought I could drive it faster than my TSX on some roads because of its stability and composure. Add a front strut tower brace and better tires, and I bet it would feel more like the TSX.

I definitely need to try an Accord Sport, because I'm very curious about how it compares to my TSX. Like others, though, I think it's too big. It would be very tight in my garage. If I stay with Honda/Acura for my next ride, it's more likely to be a Civic Si or a performance ILX variant if such a beast exists.

I would go Accord or TLX (as new as possible). I love my TSX, but I wouldn't buy a 2013 if I didn't have to. That's my two cents. The CRV is great, but I'm a sedan guy.

Actually, it appears the TLX comes standard with a front strut tower brace, just like the 2G TSX. That probably contributes to its composure, but means that handling improvements would need to come from suspension mods and tire/wheel upgrades. In my TSX, switching to Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires has improved handling and steering feel.
