05 RL Project
05 RL Project
Guess I will start a thread in the photo gallery area for my upgrades as I perform them. Got the wood shift knob in today and was very excited about that! Looks just like new and picked it up for only $50. My LED's are hopefully coming in this week sometime. Still deciding on the DRL and the fog lights. Can't seem to make up my mind on what exactly I want to do with them. Next up is rims and upgrading the sound system when the money allows it to happen.

Thanks guys. 007, I will make sure I do the PhotoBucket upload next time. Just didn't have a chance to upload them to PhotoBucket, so I could upload them on here. Ok, to be honest, I was being a little lazy, you got me. lol. Got the LED's in today and I will try to take some pics later tonight and let everyone know the quality or issues that may arise. All that I am replacing for now is the back up, liscense plate, trunk compartment, and all interior lights.
Ok, here are a few pics with the LED's installed and one before and after of the back up light. It was hard to get good pics of the inside lights, but I got one. They look a little blue in the pics, but they are actually really white. This is easily one of the cheapest and best upgrades in which it is both cosmetic and functional. I would definitely recommend it. Just make sure when installing that you check the light before putting everything back together. If the polarity is wrong, the light will not illuminate. All you need to do is reverse the installation.

Thanks. For the reverse lights, I used this one. http://www.vleds.com/bulb/7443-7440-...43-1-pair.html The only reason I went with that one was because I was using the 6K for the rest of the bulbs and I wanted all of the colors to match.
Did the emergency brake cable adjustment today and that rattle is now gone. Pics have already been taken of that here on this forum, so I didn't deem it necessary. Just very excited about, because I had no idea what it was and it was a quick 5 minute adjustment, if that, and that horrible rattling noise is now gone!

Ordered the HID's for the foglights today. Hopefully will get them in the mail by Friday and maybe have them installed sometime this weekend, since it is a 4 day weekend for me. Pics will be coming soon.
Got the HID foglights installed today. More pics and comments about their functionality once it gets dark and I can really test them out. Here is a pic of them in the garage right now. I must say, HIDextra's kits really are plug and play. All you need to do is find a place to mount the ballasts. And they give you both a mounting bracket and also a double-sided tape piece to choose how you want to mount it. I went with the Stealth series ballast in mine and had no issues at all with fitting. I would say this upgrade is just as easy as changing out your foglight bulb.
Here are a couple of night pics of the new HID foglights. Significant improvement in vision. Not sure what it will be like in fog, but we really don't get much fog over here in Oklahoma, so it's all good. I am really happy with this upgrade, so that is all that really matters. I am no photographer and do not have an expensive camera, so sorry about the pics. I have still yet to master taking photo's of lights at night time.

Stubborn me had to see that the 6000K were not the best choice in person. One day I will learn. I think the 5000K might end up being perfect and match my headlights better. I will try to take some new pics tonight from inside the car, so I can compare the 6000K and the 5000K once I purchase those. I do like the HID bulbs over the halogen for normal driving conditions though. It gives a lot better view of the side of the road when I am driving.
Decided to partially de-badge the back of the RL today. I am still on the fence of the RL badge. Thinking about ordering the Legend badge to replace it. I thought taking everything off on the back looked a little weird on the cellestial silver, so that is why I left the RL badge on it. Planned on getting the exhaust installed Saturday morning, but I had to drop $1,200 to get my A/C fixed. A/C in Oklahoma definitely takes priority over any custom items. So, I will have to wait for another few paychecks to do that.
I haven't got one yet. I am having someone in the DFW area custom make me one. The prices out there for RL prefab exhausts are crazy and a hassle to get. I am probably going to have to wait now until the middle of July to get it installed, since I had this little A/C issue. When I get it installed I will post a video and the specs.
Ended up being my A/C control module and somehow ended up with a leak in the condenser. Something probably hit it at some point. While I had everything taken apart, I checked out the compressor and the bearings in the clutch were starting to go out. Pretty much replaced the whole system, but saved a good bit by doing almost all of it myself. So, in the end, new compressor, condenser, expansion valve, serpentine belt, used A/C control module, and I am sure I am forgetting something. A little bit of overkill, but where I live at, it is a piece of mind thing. Could have did it cheaper, but I am ok with what I did. I plan on owning the car for many more years, so hopefully this will last. And it is now blowing ice cold!
Got my Legend badge in the mail on Saturday from a buddy. Got it installed today. Got my wheels ordered last week and hopefully they will be in by the end of the month. The wheels and a few other mods are a surprise for now, until I get them installed and see if I like them. Pics and specs will be posted as things are completed.
I am from Florida, haha. Military life just has me pretty much everywhere except for Florida though. I am still slowly accepting the fact that I am really living in Oklahoma. When my next registration comes due, I will see which State is cheaper and maybe get an Oklahoma plate.
It's all good. I know you were joking. I will be posting the pics as soon as I get the wheels on. I am hoping they will be in by the end of the month. And I am a little jealous, would much rather be living in Austin
But I go where the Air Force sends me, good or bad.

Got a little bored this weekend trying to stay out of the heat and decided to dress up my engine bay a bit. Still got a few more little things to paint and a piece or two that needs another coat to even the color out. My CAI should be in this week, which is why the air box isn't painted. Will finish up the details after my CAI gets in. I like how it turned out and I guess that is all that really matters, haha.

Thanks. It is holding up pretty well so far. It looks even better in person than it does in the pic. When the sun hits it, it really shines. What I used was Dupli-Color Metalcast Ground Coat which is a heat resistant paint for the silver and then VHT for the clear coat. Part# is MC100 for the silver. The red was from VHT and I think it was called Red Fire or Fire Red. I am really liking how it turned out. I am installing the CAI and throttle body spacer on it tomorrow, so that will get rid of the only black plastic that is left.

Got the CAI and the throttle body spacer installed today. The bumper was no problem getting off, but the stock air box kicked my a$$. The CAI is just a generic one. I couldn't justify throwing away a couple hundred dollars for something I can make myself. The throttle body spacer is the P2R from Excelerate. Will provide some feedback later this weekend. Got a few road trips planned, so I can do some comparing. I wasn't really looking for a lot more power or anything like that. This was mainly for looks and sound. I still have a little more cleaning up and detailing to do in the engine bay, but I am done for today.

That was my plan to paint it something similar to what you are saying. I just wanted to get everything test fitted and run it this weekend to see how I like it and make sure there is nothing I need to change before I put in the effort of painting it. Thanks for agreeing with what I was thinking, makes that decision of paint choices easier now.

Your car looks good, man. I've got my
