Upload photo

Ok I've tried uploading photo of my RL to use as my avatar and it keeps failing.

Tried cropping and using lowest resolution to no avail.

Help?!

Mike

The maximum size of your custom image must be 175 by 125 pixels or 300.0 KB (whichever is smaller)

Open it with MSPaint on PC or Preview on Mac and use the tools to resize the pic.

It needs to be pretty small.

Another victim of technical illiteracy. You can upload any size photo you please to your garage. For instance, clicking "2007 Acura Legend" above my avatar takes you to my photos.

That is a very small picture. What type of file did you save it as? Will you attach the full size to a post here by clicking "Go Advanced" and using the attachment feature? I want to see those wheels.

Something freaky is going on in the garage, I blame the new sponsor... or TampaRL.

I'm looking at the picture info on my android phone and it doesn't say what type of file it is

It does show that it's 603×403. 36.57kb

Do you have a computer? That would help immensely and likely solve all of you problems. I can do a lot of things with my phone. 1/2 my activity is on it. Posting pictures is not one of those things.

Bob, you were 15 minutes too early!

You should be able to copy and paste the URL wherever you need to now.

Bob, I suppose this actually belongs in the photongallery, but I wanted to make sure scrim could find it.

Nice RL scrim. Did you buy the wheels or did they come on the car?

they came with the vehicle.

I'm far from a "car guy" so I ask...are these wheels special?

Those wheels are indeed not RL wheels. They are BMW wheels that are likely replicas and not original BMW manufactured. The biggest concern I would have with those wheels is that BMW wheels are almost always staggered, meaning the rear wheels are wider than the front wheels. This is not good for the AWD system in our cars IF the tires are improperly sized. Since you are not a car guy, I think it would be in your best interest to read the tire size used on the front and rear and post them here if they are different. Tire sizes are read as 2##/##/##, such as 245/50/17.

tires are all the same size:

yokohama ENVIGOR

245/45/r18 96w

I'm thinking that these tires may be a bit to aggressive/noisy for my tastes so I may replace them with something more serene but since two of the tires are brand new I may wait a bit.

OP, is the tread still good on those tires? tires around that size for the RL that are quiet are pretty expensive.

Two of them are basically brand new as the inspection told me to replace two of the tires ASAP. The other two have some tread left..not sure how much

The fact that the tires are all the same size indicates that the wheels are all the same size (hopefully) and that your AWD system will not be compromised by a staggered setup in the future. So that's good.

They are nice wheels, I wouldn't mind owning a set if they weren't heavy.

For my money, those are beautiful wheels.

007, pardon the ignorance of this question, but what is the actual behavioral downside of having wheels that weigh too much? Obviously they raise the unsprung weight, which I've always heard is bad, but I don't know exactly what the consequence of this badness is. Pounding over bumps?
