just another boring win by the Spurs The Spurs are like the Camry of the NBA. They are not great at one thing but good at everything they do. Popovich is such a great coach and Duncan continues to impress. I can see how they can get under the skins of these so-called more athletic/more talented teams. Those teams think they can win on talent alone but the Spurs will kill you w/ their perfect execution. Yes they are boring but still fun watching them destroy 'more talented' teams. Still love my Lakers though.

^^ me too (Lakers fan), but I've always liked the way the Spurs play as a basketball junkie.

Part of the Spurs strength is continuity in their big 3. They been together for what, 11 years now?

Not going to happen unless San Antonio just flat out, out-hustles OKC. That 4th QTR is enough to show OKC still has a tendency to make some quick comebacks, but Popovich obviously made some adjustments & the Spurs managed to hold off.

It's always nice to see a few Faker fans praise the spurs. Nice change of pace.

The Spurs' shot efficiency last night.

I was also excited that OKC came back from 20+ down to only 5 at one point. It gives me some hope for tomorrow.

That was def the case last night... And not to far fetched as u seem to believe imo. adding on to the chart above ^ then there is this...

20 straight wins...6 more to go undef postseason ~ well coached, no worries ever under pressure, consistent fluid unstoppable offense, spread out defense and unmatched chemistry and experience in the entire league/NBA... Quite possible sweep on OKC!

Thanks...I guess.

For real though, keep your biases to yourself. Not everyone is who your stereotypes tell you they are. There plenty of praise to go around for both the Lakers and Spurs organizations.

Get over yourself dude... I am not a fan of either team... But I can appreciate skilled B-Ball being played with such efficiency, skill and to the level as the Spurs are. Spurs or anyone in the entire NBA. It is what it is...

^^haha, got your Spurs panties in a bunch.

Chill out, nobody here acts like a homer. This isn't Pounding the Rock or the Yahoo message boards.

Seriously, its fun to get all perspectives, even from fans from teams YOU think hate yours. Basketball is basketball.

...otherwise, keep being a small-market, sports hermit.

Not in a bunch, went commando for the day.

I don't know why y'all seem so butt hurt, I didn't mean to offend anyone with what I thought was a little rivalry joke. The spurs and lakers have a history and in San antonio not one lakers fan says anything nice about the spurs ever and vice Versa. That's why I said thanks for the praise.

Take it how you will

Despite hearing lots of people say it (including analysts) I never found the Spurs to be "boring" to watch. IMHO, anyone who's played organized basketball at any level will appreciate the way the Spurs play - it's team basketball at its finest.

Sure Lob City might make for some cool highlights, but it won't necessarily translate into championships.

You know what's boring basketball? One player (like Melo) throwing up 35 shots a game while 4 other people stand around watching..

^ Is that the Spurs record for this year's playoffs? I know that they've won the last 20 games they've played.

16 wins in the post season is required to win the championship, I'm wondering if he's asking if the Spurs can go undefeated, or 16-0.

Also, it's why Lebron's mouthguard says XVI on it. Motivation.

^ Thanks Mystikk for explaining it to me.

I don't know... I think Miami can steal a few games in the finals and TBH, I still think they are the team to beat. I'll have a better idea after Game 3, when OKC will come out extremely fast and aggressive... if the Spurs shutdown the Thunder in game 3, then yeah, I think 16-0 is semi-realistic.

^ that

I'm gonna be lazy and not use google but does anyone know the last time 16-0 has been done in the playoffs, if ever?

Edit: it ha never been done.

If it's spurs and heat in the finals I see the series at 4-2 spurs. We can sweep the celtics this year but miami will be tough. That is if we get past the thunda!

Lakers in '02 did it 16-1. Iverson and the Sixers surprised 'em in game 1 of the finals. If you all remember, that was the game that Iverson stepped over Tyronn Lue.

That's the best playoff run ever. That was Shaq's best year in my humble opinion.

IMHO, if the Spurs do something similar this year, its won't be quite the same, as the Lakers had a full season and that was en route to a repeat.

But my proverbial hat would be off to them if they did.

Anybody watching around the horn right now?

They said 94.3% of teams that go up 2-0 end up winning.

The funny thing is if the Spurs win the championship they will be 2-0 in strike shortened seasons.

No, that was not definitely the case last night.

Spurs played very well, but OKC was not on their shooting touch until the end where Durant just started making shots regardless of being defended or not, whilst Harden made strong drives to the basket. They got out-hustled when the Spurs went up by around 20, but OKC started to stretch their young legs & made a quick 8-0 comeback. The Spurs are just smart enough to regain composure & switch it up. It doesn't help that "Always-Mad" Perkins let their defense down & Westbrook started trying too hard to be their clutch in the 3rd.

The thing has to be remembered is that OKC will now have home-court advantage & regardless of the "unmatched chemistry & experience" (The Spur's biggest rivals that are the Mavs would disagree since we know exactly how to attack them), it is hard for any team to just sweep another strong team like it's nothing. If it weren't OKC would have swept the Lakers, but they didn't & looking through the Eastern division, not even Yummy's Heat have swept anyone out.

I don't doubt the Spurs will take this series, but I stand by in 6. OKC is a strong team & I can't see them losing both games at home.

Really good article on how the Spurs are currently attacking OKC. Not just your run-of-the-mill 'who'll win what matchup'...some real offense discussion.

Heat fans, you guys might want to send this to Spo....I'm kinda joking , but somewhat serious

The San Antonio Offense Clinic
By Sebastian Pruiti on May 30, 2012 4:20 PM ET

RONALD MARTINEZ/GETTY IMAGES
The Oklahoma City Thunder needed to make adjustments going into Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. Adjustments they made, managing 111 points. Yet they still lost, allowing 120 points. The Thunder can't win the series if they give up that many, but it's not just their defensive shortcoming. What we saw in the first three quarters from the San Antonio Spurs was a clinic on offense.

Let's begin with a look at the Spurs' shot chart from Tuesday night:

How is that NOT the case... PERIOD! You allow 120pts you are proven to not be able to stop your opponent from scoring. Whatever the reason... out hussled out scored out smarted... outted! Hanging around and closing the scoring gap does notcount when u allow 120 to be put on the board. Think about it... How many teams scored 120 this year? Not many. If anything maybe 2-3 teams all year. And that's without me even looking it up to prove it

They allowed 120 points because they allowed their defense to fall apart in the 3rd Quarter because of Perkins & San Antonio's great pick & rolls. OKC still started shooting well going into the 2nd half with 32 points in the 3rd & 35 in the 4th. If OKC's defense had made more of an attempt, a lot of Leonard, Manu, & the other open 3's would have at least been contested. I mean, good grief, they gave Parker a good 5 seconds to lay the foundation for his 3, & then shoot it.

At the end of the game OKC was still within' 10 points of San Antonio. If we want to talk out-hustled, then San Antonio got out-hustled in the start of the 4th QTR this game & in the 3rd/early 4th QTR of Game 1 where OKC turned a 10-point deficit into a loss by 3.

OKC was not out-hustled through out the game. Out-hustled is the Lakers in Game 1 & 5 against OKC. What happened last night was a defense that fell apart & an unfortunate fact that San Antonio/Parker was on a shooting streak that couldn't be stopped at 58%.

IMO, if OKC's defense is going to just leave open shots like that, then Durant, Harden, & hot or cold Westbrook need to get into their shooting rhythms much, much quicker than they usually do to at least keep pace. Durant has shown numerous times that even strong defensive pressure, he can make shots. Westbrook can do the same if he stay calm & collective.

Several teams got close to 120 points this year in games, & most of those were done with almost 15-20 point deficits. Those are out-hustled games. I stand by last night as being blamed on a lack of defensive effort by Perkins & Ibaka.
