Congrats, beautiful car and a great price! The TL-S is an amazing car, judging from your to-do list I am sure you will take great care of it.
Enjoy and stay safe

It looks pretty good, harder than heck to keep clean though.

I plan on doing so. I hope that my efforts aren't wasted with the car already being such high mileage.

I don't think he's being sarcastic. I was thinking the same thing. You can get those spots out IMO.

Detailing is on my to do list. I have very little knowledge with the proper way to wash and detail a car and all the other tid bits like buffing out scratches, etc.

Claying/detailing problems

Took my hand at giving my car a good detail today and utterly failed.

I went ahead and bought the full Meguiar's Clay Kit today from Auto Zone and proceeded to wash my car with Dawn dish soap and then began the claying process right after I rinsed the car without drying it. I followed the guide stickied on this sub forum but wasn't seeing what I thought I would see. There was hardly any resistance whatsoever and when I would look at the pancake of clay I didn't see any brown/black part where it was "removing debris". It was a sunny day and the temperature was about 42 degrees Fahrenheit. Any idea where I went wrong? I felt my car after claying it and could still feel dirt with my hand in a plastic sandwich bag.

After my clay job was "complete", I followed up with Meguiar's Cleaning wax.

Not very happy with the results at all. If someone could offer me some advice, I'm all ears.

Gotta use a lot of lubricant/spray with the clay. Really press into the paint when you glide the clay.

Got a porter cable to machine polish? That's the only way to remove swirls and scratches.

Yeah I have a porter cable orbital buffer but not really any idea how to use it/where to use it in the cleaning/detail process/ or what pads to use or what kinds of wax and in what order!

So pretty much nothing!

haha spend some time in the wash & wax section. read through the right threads and take note of the correct order of operations.

detailing products can get expensive tho, so tread lightly.

JJH, Sharky is right. Black is one of the most difficult to take care of and maintain. You'll learn a lot in the Wash & Wax Section. Let us know if you've got further questions.

J-pipe will be here tomorrow along with hardware kit coming separately.

Installed the AEM CAI V2 today and swapped off the stock air box with resonator removed and K&N drop in.

First impression is a drastic loss of torque, this is of course after resetting the ECU. LOVE the sound though.

Another progress thread with no progress. This is becoming a trend

Any other plans? A-Spec or maybe suspension?

Lol what...read my signature. A-spec is a possibility. I was a slight drop, nothing insane. Just want to eliminate the additional wheel gap that I have from going from 235/45-17s to 255/40-17s.

Lightweight pulley, PCDs and bored TB/IM is next along with AEM FIC.

Yeah, it's a must have with black Acura paint! I don't care what anyone says, if you try to do a waterless wash or don't have sufficient lubricity on the paint (in the form of a foam cannon) you're leaving some minor swirls that you will be able to see. I've turned into a detail freak.

On the other hand, it's a bit of an upward battle trying to upkeep black Acura paint on a daily driver. Well worth it though

Finally, I'll be making some real progress on my car over the next month. Plans are as follows. Please feel free to chime in and make any suggestions.
  • Replacing pads and rotors with brakemotive. Painting calipers metallic blue and sticking on brembo stickers
  • Ordering LED DRLs
  • Window spoilers
  • Rear roof spoiler
  • PCDs
  • Koni yellow & Nuespeed/H&R Springs
  • Rear camber kit to offset toed in appearance
  • Either Hondata OR apsec kit. Haven't decided yet if I want to lower the body of the car that much since afterall this is my daily driver and I live in the north.
