I want to play DVD though my Nav screen. How?

Hey guys, I dont know much about the whole playing DVD thing through Nav screen. Its an 05, never upgrade the Nav DVD. I talked to one of the guy who does audio and he said I would need to buy a converter and install it in order to play DVD. Can anyone help me with what/where should i buy in order to play dvd? and lets say its able to play, do I put the DVD in through the box in trunk or just the dvd slot under the nav ? Appreciate all helps and opinions. Thanks.

your friend is right.

you need to purchase several pieces of hardware in order to get the nav to successfully play dvds.

-Converter. Most commonly used is Dom's NAV2go.
-DVD player. Most commonly used is the Myron &Davis AD212, although you could use any kind of dvd player
- audio input device. most commonly used is the P.I.E. X3

Google the recommendations and add the prices. No need to be lazy!

Surfing Scotty, did you google the recommendations?

The Doms unit goes for I believe $300 new. although, you can find them on the black market used for $120-190

the dvd player, you're gonna have to hunt for. I found some on ebay used for 100 dollars. But again, you could use any kind of dvd player. Just need to be creative on the placement of the player.

the pie x3 is 35 bux from amazon....you will need the honda harness which is another 20-30 bucks.
I'm not to sure how much the isimple is, as I dont have an ipod.

and then any misc. parts such as wires, add a fuses, etc.

Why use a dvd player at all ? I would use a media player or video ipod before hacking stuff up to put a dvd player in. Just my opinion though.

Im waiting for the apple composite video cable i ordered online on ebay, plus i had purchased the i simple and the doms unit.. just with this video cable you just have to use the 2nd video input in the doms and the 2nd aux input in the isimple and just believing you have and video ipod you dont have to buy so many things and still have the same functions.....

That's what some people want.
The OP asked how to get dvds to play. I mentioned the basic stuff, you can be creative and mix and match components to get what ever you want to play on the navi.

upgrade the navi screen to HD and have an HD screen in the back....I wouldnt want to play ps3 on a crappy resolution screen.

I realize that, i thought maybe the op did not think that there were other options like a portable media player which is why i suggested it. All the items needed are the same anyway except whatever you want to play the video.

Don't forget the back up camera if it appeals to you, it is super easy to add after putting everything else in.

^thanks for the suggestion....

after trying to find the dvd player, i gave up and will do a carputer setup.
I think that will be better than a dvd player or even a media player.
the stock navi seems out dated. with a carpc, It will never seem dated.

Thanks, JustN.

Yeah, I searched and found prices on everything except the most important part...the TVNaviToGo (I believe was it's actual name). Found the website but searched for 20 mins w/o locating a price. Thanks again for the info. Maybe a mod I'll do a little down the line.

Don't forget the NavTool--same thing as NavToGo. There are GroupBuys on AZ for these items, too. Check the Vendor section of the Black Market.

I ordered directly with dominic. I emailed him and told me 175 without shipping. Hope they're in stock already.
