Last month I traded a TT on a 2004 Anthracite TL w/ NAV and the full A-Spec package. Got a good deal on a one owner car with 50k and certified. The wheels on my car seem to be silver. However, I have seen gunmetal A-Spec wheels on the web. When buying a car with the ASpec package new, could one opt for different wheel finishes? Are there different finishes available from the factory?

They could have been refinished or purchased later. If the Aspecs came with the car from the dealer in 04 they would have been gunmetal and would be 8.5 inches wide. Are your wheels 8.5 inches wide?

 

BTW You have the same car as me. Mine was a 04 Anthracite w/ NAV w/ dealer installed Aspec package. I have since changed some things up.

Yes, they are 8.5 inches wide, and they definetley came with the car when the package was purchased (08/31/2004). I will post some pics later this evening...

What modifications have you made? I just tinted the windows, tail lights and rear side markers. I am thinking about an Intake of some sort, but probably after the certified warranty expires...

BTW... where is your A-Spec badge placed? Mine is under the TL emblem. I know this is not the specified location, but it came that way, and I think it looks OK there...

I have a ton of mods so far and a ton more planned. You should definately get a CAI, it shouldn't void your warranty.

Well anyways to answer your original question you have the gunmetal wheels. The Aspec gunmetal is a light gunmetal, its nowhere near as dark as say the type S wheels.

 

Thanks man!! I read in the forum where it is supposed to be. I don't mind it where it is now though... If I had bought it new, I would have gone with "specified" for sure.

Also, Sparkling Silver was a finish option for the 18x8.5 ASPECs in 2004.

 

I have the A-Spec suspension...which is what the badge is really for (not the body kit). Nevertheless, I do have the front spoiler on my car. Additionally, though they are not yet on my car, I have a set of brand new A-Spec wheels sitting in my garage just waiting for tires.

I think mine are sparkling silver. However, I asked a couple friends and they think they look gunmetal.

Stupid question of the day...Do the gunmetal wheels have flakes in the paint (sparkles)?? LOL!! Mine do!!

They do have some sparkle, it is a gunmetal metallic paint.

st04Louis says the 04s came in silver so maybe you have silver? well whatever color you have the important part is you have the 18x8.5s

Yep and the suspension and steering wheel help also!!! I love the car. I really lucked out on it. I was going to see a 05 RL, and happened to see the technician who was certifying the Aspec drive by. I said to the salesman "You don't see too many of those around" and he said. It just came in... want it? Then I found out it was 7000 less than the RL, I dove right in!!! Perfect fit for sure!!

Thanks for all your help. They are def gun metal. I think they just look lighter because the car's paint is so dark...
