Nice list, I recently did the conversion as well. I definately recommend getting stainless steel lines and different pads. OEM pads are a rip off I got my Rotex Kevlar Golds online for $40 + shipping. I also got some aftermarket rotors but the stock rotors are good as well.

This should be added to the 3G Garage make a new listing called Brembo Conversion.

i found that getting them through the local dealer is a better deal(shipping). just ask them for a cash deal and they will give it to you wholesale. which is about a 15% discount. I'm so glad this actually helped. i also got some SS lines on the way. and i got hawk HPS with the OE rotors. Mods could you sticky or 3g garage this???

um......... it was just under $2000 CDN. I got the calipers with the knuckles off ebay but one of the knucles were bent and that meant a new wheel bearing since i was at it. and both of my ABS sensors were rusted solid in the original knuckles so that bumped up the price.

My calipers came with Hawk pads in them so i saved about hundread bucks there.
I recommend you go with aftermarket rotors and pads. I couldnt wait a couple weeks for EBC rotors to come in and acura had 1 day service for all of the parts i needed, thats the only reason why i went with the OEM brembo blanks.

Thanks for the info....I am waiting for the complete Rotora BBK kit to come in. Ordered the 4 piston fronts w/ slotted & drilled 2 piece rotors, and the 2 piston rears w/ slotted & drilled 2 piece rotors.

I spoke to the local dealer before I pulled the trigger...and they were going "ho and hum" about the OEM brembo swap. So forget about them!

Sweet, the rotora kits are pretty nice and less work to put in too! Gotta show me some pics when they are in!! but do they clear the OEM rims??

I did all of my own parts research cause most of those dealer parts guys dont want to spend the time to look and compare the difference between type-s and normal TL front end components.

I called with all those part numbers i needed and got them to order it cause i dont trust anyone else looking up parts except me!

90656-SEP-A50 CLIP, L. CALIPER x2 -shim between bolt, knuckle and caliper

never installed these two clips, what difference does it make, I have 2k on them and no cons.

if you can find a crashed type s, then you can swap the knuckle assembly's. that would be alot easier

^^^^^isnt a Big Brake Kit better than doing a swap then? you end up with better rotors too...and especially for those who can't do the work themselves!

yup, there would be less labour involved with an aftermarket BBK, just 2 bolts for the caliper bridge and a banjo bolt for the flex hose and thats about it for removal. with the OEM swap its alot more work.a good mint set of rotora's might be a better deal.....

I just found a brand new set of Brembos on ebay starting at 400 or so. I would still need all the items you were talking about above for the swap? Kinda seems pricey.

Sorry, I missed this one a long time ago.

12.2" 4 pot calipers. More than enough for daily driving especially with a good pad. Almost enough for hard track use and more than enough for auto-x.

Something to think about, didn't NSXs come with 11.7" 2 piston front rotors originally? I realize they're a few lbs lighter and probably have significantly better rear brakes with a more rearward bias but it was common for sports cars to have <12" brakes not that many years ago.

I couldn't be happier with my $800 (BM) 13" Rotoras. Even the $85 (BM) Rotora rears with an ultra aggressive pad $200 work extremely well together. Basically $1,100 for a kick ass braking system which is less than it costs to convert to the Brembos or about the same used for used.

The TL Brembo swap would be worth it if you can find the parts used for cheap. Otherwise, there are aftermarket BBK's that will be bigger and better for the same cost of a new Brembo Swap ($1200-1300).

I personally went with the '06 RL 4 piston calipers and 350z Racing Brake 12.6" slotted rotors and couldn't be happier. It required having a custom aluminum bracket made for the custom fitment to the TL knuckle but it was worth the wait. With EBC Yellowstuff pads, my whole front setup was around $900 using high quality rotors/pads.

Rockauto has the TL-S Powdercoated brembos for $105+45 core charge per re-manufactured caliper. That's about $300 for the full front set. Add the knuckles and various other parts in, you're looking at around $900-$1000 as well.

They also have 1 Front Passenger RL Caliper for $115+75 core charge. It's only a matter of time before they get the Driver RL calipers in.

The only reason why I'm going for the OEM brembo is because It's easier to find the parts, like rotors/pads etc.

How much is it to buy the Stoptech/Rotora rotors/pads after the original ones have been worn?

I'm thinking long run here...

As cheap or cheaper than factory Brembo replacements and all you have to do is order online.

Parts are easy to find because most kits share rotors and cailpers (same pads) between different manufacturers.

SO after the original rotora BBK pads and rotors are worn, I thought you need to buy the the pads and rotors from Rotora, whereas the Orginal OEM Brembo's you can use racingbrake rotors etc etc...?

I don't think you're stuck with Rotora. Any 13"x23mm (or whatever size depending on the kit you got) rotor will work but the Rotora rotors are some of the best so no reason to go with anything else. Calipers are great too, they have they typical taper bore pistons and all the features of any other top of the line caliper.

You have your choice of 3 different "Rotora" pads to choose from, from full race, track/street, and street. However, I have been trying to figure out exactly which pads Rotora uses because chances are they're some OEM application for something. If I could figure this out it would open up the door to using any pad you want.

Nice thread. I have a Type-S and my rotors are warped and it about time to have new pads. I have heard about people having really awful squeaking thanks to the OEM pads. I asked my dealer (service advisor) if I had to run OEM/Brembo pads/rotor, etc. He kinda reluctantly said, "yes...". I figured he was full of $hit.

question

I want to do the swap too. I already have the calipers, rotors, pads.

I found a local junk yard selling the complete spindle. He told me I would not be able to just both these on as the axles/drive shaft would not fit.

Is this true? Would I have to use my original bearings and hub?
