Where's the wood?

So I've seen quite quite a few pictures, and the scanned brochure, but I haven't seen a picture with an imitation wood/plood/whatever interior. And looking at the options at the end of the brochure, I don't see it offered. Have they really done away with this option, or am I just a moron?

you Sir, are not a moron.

you are correct.

no more fake wood option.
and did I hear rumor of cloth seats too?

There are three price/option levels of the new TSX:

Standard/Base
Premium
Tech

Base:
Cloth Seats
AM/FM/CD/MP3 seven-speaker sound system with auxiliary jack for portable music players
Dual-zone automatic climate control
Bluetooth connectivity with hands-free telephone operation
Tilt and telescopic steering wheel
Eight-way power driver's seat with manual lumbar adjuster
Four-way power front passenger seat
Keyless entry with folding key
(NO HIDs)

Premium:
Perforated Leather Seats
XM satellite radio
USB port for memory sticks
Two-position memory for the driver's seat
Front fog lights
HID low-beam headlights
Automatic headlight operation

Tech (added only to the premium package):
Bi-lingual navigation system with voice recognition
Color screen
Rearview camera
Illuminated steering wheel controls
Acura/ELS premium sound system with ten speakers, and six-disc CD/DVD changer

Sounds like the base model is really going to suck.
Illuminated steering wheel controls an option?
HIDs and option?
Two position memory seat an option?
Leather (um... pleather) an option?
Fog lights an option?
6 disc changer an option?

man...

Looking more and more like the crap that BMW does....

Strip the crap out of the car to get a low base advertising price...
Shady Acura... shady.

Man, looking at the title of this thread on RSS had me thinking I had mistakenly wandered onto a porn RSS feed...

Cloth standard? Wow that stinks! One reason I liked the TSX was because it came with almost everything you'd want standard.

What a cheap cop-out. I guess it will increase their potential audience, however...

Yes, actually I do believe you're correct.
So no base option for the US?

All premiums and techs?

The canadians and americans have been quite similar up until
this point correct?

There are only two models...Base and one w/ Tech Pkg....at least those are the only two that I have seen.

On the models I saw, I did not see any wood trim. I saw one model with a black trim, and one with a silver trim. In both models, the trim had a satin finish.

Canadian's have always had more "levels" than their US counterparts.

I actually really like the wood trim in my NBP/parchment, I sprung to get the extra wood pieces also, except for the steering wheel, thought that'd be too much.

Wish you can get a fully loaded cloth one....like it better then leather. With heated seats cloth is amazing in winters up north.

I wonder if it'd be possible to swap out the center trim from the Accord Tourer...

That'd be the perfect amount of wood.

The TSX is the only entry-luxury car on which real wood trim isn't even an option. Acura is very stingy with real wood and I don't understand why. Most of the cars in the class offer either real wood or real aluminum.

Acura just doesn't to 'options' in the 'German' sense. As an accessory I could see a possibility but I also see a potential weakness. Done as an accessory, is has to be 'stick' on. or the dash assembly has to be designed so the parts can easily be removed, AND replaced without adding squeeks/rattles.

You simply can't please everybody, one guy ages 20 years when he sees wood, one wants real wood as an option, I hate fake wood (I also hate "aluminum" plastic) but wouldn't mind fake carbon fiber in a sports sedan.
