I have to admit, I expected it to look no better than the current-gen TL. I was ready to lament the fact that my 2012 TSX will be the last Acura sedan I would have for a while.
I'm so glad I was wrong. This car looks good. I can't wait for the SH-AWD version.

The 4cyl version is not impressive.... but the v6 9speed awd / paws looks very impressive.

Simply gorgeous. I hope it looks similar to this in production because the back end looks like it may change a bit. I want the V6 with AWD. I was able to drive a V6 SH-AWD TL as a loaner and fell in love. This car looks so much sharper though.

The J series is a SOHC motor. The DOHC V6 was the C series.
The 3.7 had vtec on both intake and exhaust sides, true, but it was not a DOHC.
I would be guess that the new motors will be derived from the vtec on both in/ex sides, if it was needed.

I think they will aim for over 300 hp out of the 3.5.
The mustang v6 which is the entry level mustang motor puts out more than that. Same with Camaro.
If they want to stay relevant, they will come correct.

my genesis v6 is a 3.8 with GDi and is 348bhp
let's see what acura can do with direct injection

The transmission sure sounds impressive, although I would want a 6MT and hope Honda brings it back after the initial model year. Just wondering how such limited information led to your "not impressive" conclusion.

based on similar engines it is easy to predict the output.
a direct injected 4 banger with turbo still only puts out ~260hp with maybe ~230tq
so a NA Di 4banger with only 400cc more displacement is not going to be more than that. It may FEEL quick due to gearing in the transmission, but that is subjective

Yeah, as battleofXs stated it's pretty easy to predict the output of the engine....
And again, it's just another slow FWD car. If they had turbo'ed the 4 and put AWD with it, that would have been nice... but the 4cyl TLX is not going to be anything special.

the only thing that sparked my curiousity on 2.4 engine is from the Acura website "For the high-revving 2.4L inline-4,an 8-speed DCT..."
Now I don't consider our 7100 redline as "high revving" at all...soo now if they make it like a 100+hp/liter 8000rpm+ NA, that would be a very interesting power plant
