New aftermarket stereo and bluetooth SUCKS
I was worried that switching my head units would cause problems. The stock head unit worked OK.. But it did disconnect a lot at first. Then it quit, and became very reliable. I do not know why it took time.
I got a sony XAV-AX100 head unit because it had very good ratings. I can use apple carplay. I often prefer to only use bluetooth, but it is not working well at all. It disconnects once every song. It is horrible.
I am wondering if it is a faulty head unit, or if it is a bad installation, or if the acura handsfree is someone interfering with it.
Now on my dash, it keeps saying "pair" because the stock bluetooth still wants to pair. It is really annoying and gets in the way of my other signals that I want to see, like tire pressure. I can view it breifly but it immediately goes back to saying "pair"
What can I do!? This sucks! Please help.
PS the display at the top of the car that use to have the time, is all black unless i turn on the AC controls.

Have you confirmed that the firmware on the unit is the most up to date? It can make a huge difference.

Thank you for the fast reply! I did notice that there was an update, and I tried to install it today, but I did not have any luck. I will try again! Any other recommendations in the mean time?
Also, can you recommend some links to a front and back speaker replacement that is high quality but fairly priced?

Update : I went out and updated the firmware. Nothing. It disconnects once, sometimes twice for every song. I just press "reconnect" on the headunit and it goes back, but still, this is absolutely ridiculous.
It is so frustrating to spend $550 on a new head unit and have it disrupt the reliability.
Do you think it is a fault head unit, faulty install/wiring, or just bad luck?

First line in all red was to clear your OEM Bluetooth! this sounds likes it’s the OEM Bluetooth trying to overtake the Sony.

Try disconnecting your OEM Bluetooth module. It is underneath the passenger kick panel. You can just disconnect the plug to it and test it. Not sure if it is going to help but worth a try.

Awesome advice. Where exactly is that located? Is there anything near the fuse box that I can just disconnect?

Here are the screenshots. Just duck under the passenger side. You will see black undercover, its where your footwell light is. Just pull it out there are no screws. Dont pull too hard there are wires attached to footwell light and bluetooth module. The module is attached to this undercover. Just pull the connector and you can test it.

Thanks again guys. I fixed it. Has been running great. I used Bluetooth more than I use the CarPlay wired connection. If I need to use my GPS I hook it up. But it’s annoying because the screen tried to follow my phone screen so if I pull anything else up, I have to reopen maps.
