Is this Headlight restoration acceptable ?
Hey everyone whent to the dealer this week for some warranty service and they offered me to buff my headlights and cover them with 3m protective film they where starting to get really foggy and scratched .. They where asking for 150$ all together plus a 1 year warranty so I said why not it seems like a good price .. After getting the car back it was cloudy outside and everything looked fine .. The next day I decided to to wash my car it was sunny outside and right away I noticed all the imperfections that I thought whould be gone though the 3m application is perfect .. Does this look acceptable , personally I don't really think so , would like a point of vue before I go back to the dealer and complain ... Thanks everyone !!

That is definitely not acceptable. Esp for $150.

It also looks like they damaged the paint around your lights - unless that is dirt or wax. In addition, it is a violation of federal regulations for a repair shop to put any "covering" on a headlight.
I'd say they owe you new headlights and possibly some paintwork.

The $25 3M or Meguiars DIY kit, done by a newb, gives better results than that. I feel sorry for you man. Hopefully you have some "before" pictures so you can go state your case.

The Headlights are fine the foggy and scratched spots that you see on the pics where there before they restored them or tried lol the bottom of the headlights where done perfect it's only towards the top that they didn't buff them enough or pay attention maybe because of the lighting, when it's cloudy it doesn't show much it's when it's sunny that those spots pop out and become very visible .. Just got a call from the service department it's the manager who will take the decision but he wasn't in today .. So we will see what's gonna happen .. Either they start over or they refund me .. I'll keep you guys posted thanks for the advice !!

I'd be hopping up and down on the GM's desk as I'd have bypassed the Service manager as soon as they said "we'll give you a refund". This is no different than screwing up an oil change, blowing up your engine and saying "here's your $19.95 back for your oil change". Don't forget that new headlights are over a grand for the pair.

wow! just toothpaste and a microfiber towel would've done a better job.
looks like all they did was slap some wax on a buffer and call it a day.
Hope they take care of you, Specially with that $150 stealership charge.

Just got off the phone with the service guy at the dealer,he told me that the headlights where done by an external company that they use for this kinda of stuff he didn't whant to tell me the name ...The detailing manager at Acura will be back next wednesday and then he will be able to tell me what my options are... And just to motivate the service guy a little more I sent him a link to this thread it might put a little more sense in him lol

It was a little time consuming, but the kit was on sale for $14.21. It seems a little more reasonable. how long it will last I don't know. But I did this back in September 2015 and the results are still good.

So they f-ed up your headlights and then promised to fix it, then gave you a refund? Did they at least fix them?

The toothpaste trick is only a temporary solution. I wet sanded my headlights with several grits from 600 to 2000 then sprayed Rust Oleum clear gloss with UV protection. This seals the headlights again, preventing them from getting foggy in the future. After that I polished them with Collinite No. 476 Super Doublecoat auto wax (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It's a drastic change in how the car looks now (for the better), also helps makes it safer to drive at night and in rain because the headlights can actually function now.
