Current TSX owners: would you get the 2009 TSX?

For those of us who currently own a 2004-2008 TSX, now that you have seen how it looks and what engine it has (and the approximate price range too), would you trade in your current TSX and get the new 2009 TSX? And why?

Voted probably not. It's not that I don't like the 2009, I just don't see a compelling reason to change since my car's almost paid off & I really like driving it. I also like the fact it's the first model year. If I were in the market for a new car, though, I'd probably buy a 2009. Now, when the diesel comes out, I may find it hard to resist.

I feel like this is the same as asking "do you want the exact same car for another four or five years?"

Sure there's small differences here and there, but after you become accustomed to them you'll probably swear it's the same car. I don't know what to get next time, the TSX is such a good value that you can't get something more sporty without paying a lot more or losing a lot of luxuries.

i really dont see it as being better than the current model. i have an 05 TSX and i dont have bluetooth or the newer nav unit, but seeing as the 09 model has a nav unit with the same resolution screen, no touch screen and a stupid knob etc and is more expensive i suppose if it came down to an 08 or an 09 and i presently had no car i'd probably get the 08.

theres so much talk about this car having worse feeling steering, actually being slower etc. i bought the TSX partly because i liked the dimensions. i think it was "just right" sized and had the weight and tossability that felt like a good compromise for everything in my life.

that said the new one is like... a less "right" version of the current one. that costs more. and looks uglier with a horrible grill and is slower. i suppose on it own its not a "bad" car, just i cant really think of it being particularly good.

not to mention at 29k starting, it costs almost as much as an IS250 starting which has a 6 speed auto, rwd, etc at least. not to mention looks nicer.

Current owners better hope for an increase in the 2009 price. If this goes down in price, the values of the older cars will drop like a rock. We saw this happen with the '98 3.2 TL when the '99 came out.

No. I bought my 08 TSX after seeing leaked pics of the 09's, I needed a car that was the "jack of all trades."

I saw the 09 in person at the NY auto show yesterday, it doesn't look THAT bad, but they also had my twin there (08 non-navi 6spd PWP/Ebony TSX), and man I was in love again lol.

Needs a "I'm waiting for diesel / another powertrain variant" poll option.

I don't see that being likely given the state that the dollar is in.

judgeing from the pix in the accord vs tsx thread, theres a sick picture of the tsx from the side and back and im starting to actually like the car..I bet once its seen in person, with a different color and some nice tints, the new tsx is going to actually look pretty damn good

1. Front lights look like a Civic.

2. No AWD and No significant powertrain performance increase.

3. Probably heavier.

So no.....

Probably not....but only because I just paid off my '04 and I'm not ready for a new car yet. I'm going to hold onto this one for about another 4 years.

I saw the '09 in person at the NY auto show yesterday and I think it looks sharp.

No chance. Not because its a bad car. Just time for something else.

And that stance won't change, even if they stick a V6 in there.

what i am seeing so far, probably not. i'm going hold out to see what the '09 TL looks like - frankly, i do not have high hopes for that car either. and see the diesel TSX, MMC Lexus IS, and G35x.

That's the wonderful thing about owning an Acura: you can hold on to it as long as you like. I always say to buy after a mid-cycle refresh anyway (and stay away from first-model-year cars, though a first-year Acura is still better than most anything else). Maybe for '11 or '12 they'll add a few of those missing horses back in and tweak the styling a little.

Exactly. I'm also patiently awaiting the diesel version.

I don't like the grill for the 09 too much, but I am sure it will grow on me. I am glad I got an 08 because it's the last of my favorite bodystyle.

09 looks not as same as the concept 4 and evetually more ugly...... plus, getting so sick of the shitty service from Honda Canada....... to try to get them fix under the warranty seems to be as hard as pulling off my teeth.

NO MORE HONDA to me.

But I still like to ride on my TSX and I will simply keep it for another few years.

With all my mods... my TSX still has more power and better delivery, better looks not to mention I would never get a penny for them. Its all about the return on investment and since its paid off, I'm enjoying them more.

Voted no way, removing the idea of "negative equity" (which I don't have) from the equation. IOW, if I could drive my 2006 TSX in and drive off with a 2009 without a dollar changing hands ... no way! I see no improvements, and in fact there are a couple of things they've stepped backwards on.

I will not. The lack of the 2.3 turbo + sh-awd really killed my enthusiasm. Going to be looking at BMW, Audi, Infiniti and believe it or not Pontiac's new G8 GXP.

I don't know if Acura pays any attention to our posts here on Acurazine at all, but judging by the responses, the prognosis is not good for the 2009 TSX...

As posted elsewhere, Acura's strategy may be that the TSX is the "gateway" car to their line. That is, attracting converts from Honda, and Toyota/Nissan/Hyundai. Those already in a TSX may be expected to move up to a TL/TL-S, hence the effort expended (snort) on NOT making the TSX more appealing to current owners.

Still ... making the TSX on par with the Accord V6 EX ... still doesn't make sense. It's like saying, Hey, you can have a top o' the line Accord, oooooorrrrr,... you can have another top o' the line Accord, for a few thou$and more.

Exactly. I agree with this. Not to mention I have no interest in owning an 09. I don't like the look of it in the slightest, and for the money, you can do so much better.

I also bought my 2008 after seeing the preview of the 2009. i think the 2004-2008 look more agreesive with better interior design, and looks actually like a Japanese car. The 2009 interior might look more luxury but it doesn't give you the feeling of a sports sedan. I like where my navi sits and how simple the dash is. I am not sure how much nicer the Japanese version of the 2009 will be, probably without the big chrome grill, but I will still prefer my white 08 M6. (Well these are just my personal comments)

In regards to the 4WD TSX, it was suppose to come out this year, however it is prosponed to 2010 April, said my salesperson at Acura here in Canada.

I actually wanted to get more longevity from my other car but that didn't happen. That's why I went for a Honda product. So from my point of view, I'm just sitting back and watching it unfold (and am liking it so far). I see more things happening with this model in the next copuple of years. It should be fun.....

i voted "no way". i'm loving my 07'. i plan on keeping it till about 2015 or so (i usually pay off my cars in 3-4 years and hang on to it for another 3-4 years) and then get a lexus or something - my dealership experience has been nothing but unsatisfactory for a "luxury" brand. as much as i like the car, i can't deal with a monopoly dealership that abuses its market position.

awd is not an issue for me - i live in hawaii for crying out loud. big banging v6 is not an issue either - i can *barely* tickle the i-vtec in 3rd before i have to slow down on the freeway. where am i gonna' go with 250+ ponies? i run out of freeway space. the current tsx offers the best of all worlds for my current needs.

I didn't vote, because I am waiting for the diesel TSX. No, I'm not buying the 2009 TSX, but I'm not buying the 2009 Anything Else either.

Not crazy about the Saturn Aura front end, no v-6/turbo/sh-awd option yet, and interior that is 90-95% like the current Accord.

I will check out the all new TL. I'm really liking the 09 RDX as our next car.

Does the iVTEC still kick-in at the same rpms like the 04-08 TSX?

I wanted to wait and see with the TSX diesel engine; but, diesel in NM is about .50-.80 cent higher compared to gas. I know there will be a higher price of purchasing a diesel engine TSX ($750-$1,500). There will not be any tax breaks compared to purchasing a hybrid car. It might take us 3-5 years just to break even with a diesel engine

I'm with you here, 100%. I have to slow down before I reach redline most of the time. (And I'm not made of money, so tickling the i-vtec regularly is just throwing away money IMHO.)

Others have claimed that the 230-250 HP is needed for 0-60 time. Or (conjecture on my part) more torque at lower RPMs for more confident starts through the first three gears. Okay. I rarely make jack rabbit starts. YMMV, folks.

(But the 2009 retuned engine allegedly offers more torque throughout the RPMs, so in principal, this engine may feel like it has 230 HP ... without the V6.)

I saw a Toyota Camry with a huge spoiler the other day.

On other note, I definitely will not get it. That loss of hp and the 8 lb/ft of torque isn't going to make me think the car is going any faster. On top of that, it's probably going to be heavier and no AWD. New TSX = garbage.

So you're test driving it next week? Let us know how the acceleration power is on the car. I heard that with the added weight there will be feeling of more power on the new TSX. Let us know if that is true.
