Acura, how I missed you :)
Hello all. Sold my 12 year old Civic Thursday last week, for something with slightly more room, but still the patented Honda reliability (our Civic had zero visits to the dealer for any warranty or repair work). I also owned a 2001 Acura Integra LS back in the day as my first new car, so it feels good to be back in the saddle again. I missed Acuras.
Over the weekend, just purchased a 2012 Silver Moon TSX SE. I picked it up today after a spoiler add. The drive home was nostalgic. I love the ride. Feels GREAT to be back in an Acura. Meantime, am glad to be a part of this forum and looking forward to learning more.
Here was a pic of my first acura:
And my new tsx:
Sitting on the showroom floor:
This was how many miles were on her!!! (no one drove her but us)
After they pulled it off the showroom floor for us:
Sitting in the pre-delivery bay (with the SOLD sign! ) waiting to be detailed and prepped for delivery to me on Wednesday.
Anyways, clear bra-ing will not happen till next week, so I had a 2 hour drive back home. What did I do in the meantime? BLUE PAINTERS TAPE!!! Yes, it looked goofy, but hey, I'm not risking any permanent chip. Buddy and I spent about an hour using up a whole roll of tape. But hey it worked
Never drive home a new car without clear bra or painters tape! hehe...
For my first mods, I will be getting tint along with the clear bra, and also am looking into hood struts. Anyone know of a good brand?
At Dealership prior to taping
After 1 hour of taping
We were so hungry, we needed RIBS...
Back home safe and sound
What the front end looked like
After it was all said and done, removing the tape only took about 15 minutes. My paint and front grille were left in pristine shape.
Can't wait to get clear-bra'd.

Integration was stock.... For Tori (tsx), plans are mild... Clearbra, tint, hood struts (hate prop rods...any suggestions on struts?), maybe intake...
lol... Thank you!

the stuff is actually called Plastidip. it's used much like spray paint, but only you can peel this stuff off, if you dont like the results.
A bunch of guys on this forum, use it to rice the car out.
Again, you have a beautiful car.
it would be sad to see your vehicle "pyrodipped"
Btw Pyro, did you peel off the ugly from your wheels yet?

Thanks yeah I'm on there too. I'm a big detailing fanatic.
yeah no plastidip for me. Unnecessary imo
What's wrong with the stock rims? That's part of the reason why I chose an SE
A little word play!

Nice SE. Thats the color I would get since it only comes in 4 colors. The wheels look good. You paid for those upgraded wheels in the SE package, so might as well keep them since they look good with your color.

nice ride! careful with the tape, had to use that at acura on my TL to point out spots they needed to touch up with a full detail, and well they left it sitting outside for 4 days in ATL summer heat and it melted onto the car. i was highly PISSED. it took a while but they finally got most of it cleaned up.

wow, i never knew how good silver would look on this car...and I HATE silver. nice color, nice car, I secretly wish I bought an se...but it is what it is.

Congrats! I picked the same car except mine is a 6MT. I didn't want dark color so it was between a white one or the silver moon. The wife likes the silver better so that was the decision. I do think the chrome pieces blend better with silver though.

Next time you might want to have a roll of RoadWrap in your trunk- a ton easier than painters tape. www.buyroadwrap.com.
I use this for the back of my iPad too. Easy on and easy off. You can also use the wrap parking for the sides of the doors if you're worried about scratches.
