What kind of fluid do u guys used in your changes? 3rd gear sometimes grind on cold days. Does anyone used a redline, royal purple or gm's? Which one is the best for our tranny? Thanks in advance.

 

over on the 3rd gen TL side, we use GM syncromesh modified fluid.

no one has figured out what specifically makes the GM syncromesh modified fluid so much better than the honda fluid.
the GM stuff cured my 3rd gear grind/pop out.

in fact, I'm about to do it again, as its been about 30k miles for me.

 

How many quartz? Did it really fixed the problem. Thanks a lot in advance

 

I DONT KNOW ABOUT THE 2ND GEN TSX, but I believe the 3rd gen TL took 3.2 quarts.
You're going to need to look this info up, as it might be different than the TSX.

Yes, like my previous post stated, I have no more 3rd gear grind or pop out.

 

I am One of the Lucky ones-my tsx has honda Mt fluid with no problems. 145kmiles and counting.

 

I had a 2008 Accord with a 5MT and had the same issue with 3rd Gear pop-out. I never got around to changing the fluid, instead i changed the car lol. Now the 6MT on my TSX also does that too so i'm thinking of changing it.

I have heard the GM is the stuff to use in Honda/Acura MTs. Anyone done this change themselves? and how'd it go - Any tips?

 

I believe it's 2.1 quarts

 

its not too bad just really messy i suggest getting 3 quarts and opening the fill plug first to make sure it comes loose with no issues. the fill is right behind the driver side wheel so take it off there should be a square block big enough for a 3/8 ratchet to fit same for the drain at the bottom of the trans. fill up till fluid comes out the fill hole.

 

I want to change the transmission fluid on my 2008 TSX. I'm the first owner have had it for 5 yrs first time I would be changing it. I'm a DIY person but I've been looking all over on the steps on how to change transmission fluid. Please if some one can help me out and tell me where I can find a video or steps how to........ Thanks
